Chapter Seven
Mila looked around in the dark. The city below never stopped but at the moment everything seemed so quiet. She could see the cars zooming by and the people walking but all she could hear was a buzzing sound in her ears. She leaned her hands on the railing and gripped them until her knuckles were white. She closed her mind and tried to focus on her breathing. Her chest hurt and she wondered if this is what an anxiety attack felt like.
She could not comprehend what she witnessed but she knew what she saw was real. Just as real as she was but she could not fully grasp it. She was taking in that she was in love with someone who wasn't even human. A tinge of anger filled her. He had lied to her this whole time about who he was. How could she love someone who she didn't even know?
In the back of her mind she knew that it wasn't accurate but the anger was something tangible she could grasp and so she did. She was taking deep breaths when she heard the door slide open but she didn't open her eyes. She knew who it was and she did not know how to react at the moment.
Was she scared? Should she be scared? But at the moment that anger is what was helping her stay focused and she turned to look at Ravior.
"If you omitted something so life changing like this, what else have you lied about?" She gritted out. Ravior visibly flinched at her words. She was never angry but he could feel the anger coming off of her in waves. He kept his distance, as far as he could on the small balcony and leaned back against the railing, crossing his arms.
"I haven't lied about anything. This isn't something I could run around and tell people. I have to have trust in the person. I have to love the person." He made sure he said that reassuringly. She closed her eyes again and turned away from him.
"Mila, I know this is hard to fully comprehend. Your whole life, someone like me has been in your books, your movies. It is like that for a reason, we could never let everyone know we are out there because we would be slaughtered. No matter how strong we are, we could not survive a genocide. We have family, loved ones, we have children. This isn't something we can tell just anyone." He pleaded with her. She felt her heart pang in pain at the thought of something happening to him. Something happening to Aniyah and her chest hurt again for a different reason.
"If you need time away to think, I totally understand. I just didn't want you to leave without me explaining myself more. There is so much to share with you and I hope that you would let me one day. Aniyah would love to talk to you too. I know you feel a bond between you two." Her lips tilted up without her consent at the thought of Aniyah and warmth filled her body. She was beautiful.
"How do I take this all in?" She asked quietly. Ravior let out a deep breath and inched closer to her.
"I can't tell you how to feel. I have never gone through these emotions. I grew up a werewolf, this is my normal. This is also why we had Julian be here when we told you. He was where you are now. We didn't want to bombard you with everyone, we wanted to show you support. We are here for you and I love you so much." She glanced over at his eyes, her anger ebbing away into nothing and she felt numb again.
She wanted to run into his arms and get comfort. He was her comfort but she was so unsure of everything right now. She looked away and hugged her arms around her body tightly, shutting herself off from him and fighting that urge to go to him.
"Can I talk to him? Alone." He nodded and moved to the door and paused for a moment. She could tell he was fighting himself also. They were very affectionate to each other and not touching each other when the other was upset was almost unnatural. He must have decided against turning around and opened the door.
