Chapter 5

Sleep for the wolves last night was almost impossible. Although their wolves were content with their partners, knowing their mates were out they kept them restless. Julian and Mila slept a little better, the alcohol definitely helping them sleep through the uneasiness.

Separately both couples just relaxed at home. The weather being wet and cold, it felt like a great day to watch movies and relax. That was what Aniyah and Julian did most weekends, always enjoying each other's company. Today was different though and they both were comfortable in each other's arms thinking about someone else.

"What are we going to do about this?" Julian's smooth voice broke through the apartment. Aniyah looked over at him. They were both sitting on the couch opposite of each other but their legs tangled together. Aniyah was reading a book and Julian the newspaper.

"I honestly have no idea. My wolf is not agitated, just longing to be near our mate but also is very content with you. I have never heard of this before." Aniyah sighed, closing her book.

"Is there anyone you can ask? I know you said denying one's mates is dangerous, so what other options are there?" She sighed again.

Of course there were people to talk to but it's been years since she's even spoken to them. She was technically still a part of their pack, her and Ravior were but they didn't keep many ties other than talking to their parents. Not many wolves stayed away as long as they did, they always wandered back to pack life. Not many wolves found a partner they were happy with either.

Denying a mate was completely unheard of. It was already hard enough to find said mate, to deny them was unthinkable. She did hear a story before of someone denying their mate because they were in love with someone else. The other mate, heart broken, fell into a deep depression and ultimately lost themselves to it and ended their life.

This situation was much different because all parties were with another person so none was alone but the thought of denying Mila, even with Julian so close left an ache in her soul and her wolf whined softly.

"We do have people we can talk to in the pack but before that I think it would be important for us to talk. I mean in the end it is all of our decisions and what they say is speculation and rules of old ways" Julian nodded, he understood how Aniyah felt about the pack and some of their rules. He assumed Ravior was the same since he never went back also.

"I'll give Rav a call and see how they are doing." Aniyah said, grabbing her phone from the armrest of the couch and calling him. He answered quickly.

"Hey Niyah." His deep voice went through the speaker but in the background she heard Mila's voice telling him to tell her "Hi" and it made her smile.

"Mila said Hi, what's up?"

"I was thinking of calling the pack about the situation but wanted us to talk beforehand and see how we were going to handle the situation" There was silence on the other end for a moment and then shuffling sound an "I'll be right back" and a shutting door.

"I don't know how to tell her Niyah. What if she leaves?" Aniyah's heart jumped in her throat.

"She won't." She said firmly. She couldn't leave.

"I know you said it would be better me telling her alone but maybe it would be better for all of us to be there." Aniyah looked at Julian who could hear the conversation and saw him shrug then nod.

"Maybe. Has she asked any questions?" He chuckled on the other side of the phone.

"oh yeah, all about you. I am sick of talking about you" She felt warm inside and smiled and saw Julian smile too. She wondered what he thought about the situation and decided after the call she would talk to him about it.
