Assalam Alaikum my dear readers!
I hope this chapter meets you well.I sincerely apologize for the longest break ever...
The past year can pass for the busiest year of my life. 😅😅
And I'm elated to announce to you all that by the mercy of Allah I've graduated from the Nigerian Law School and I'll be called to the Nigerian Bar on the 7th of December, 2022 insha Allah!
Now, let the Esquire hear your thoughts about the chapter! 😅
Sharif entered the house cheerfully, informing Zahra about how his day went.
"Finally, I got news on our visa application today," he was so excited. "We'll be going for Umrah, and will be spending a few days in Dubai InshaAllah before our return."
Zahra was thrilled, she jumped and hugged him.
"I even have better news for you. We are going to get you a JAMB form. I think you will like Baze University."
"Thank you, Habiby. I definitely will and I don't have a better taste than yours!" He was so pleased at her joy that he gave her a passionate kiss on the lips.
"We never talked about what you wanted to study. Tell me," He said. They were in the car now.
"Psychology. Islamic psychology preferably," Zahra said, almost jumping out of the seat.
"No, You'll study Engineering," he said with a straight face. It was one of his ways of torturing her: he would ask what she wanted but would never give it to her.
"But I'm an Art student," she protested solftly, turning uncomfortably in her seat and trying to explain better. "I..."
"Yes, I saw your result. 6 As and 3Bs. That's quite impressive. Good enough for me. Just pass your JAMB for me," he didn't even glance at her as he spoke. "You have no idea how lucky you are because it's what I wanted to study."
"I don't know Math," she blurted.
"And I love math," he said with a stern face. "Stop talking back at me!" And they drove in silence to the cafe.
"Will you..." Before she could blink, a hard slap landed on her cheek.
In the silence that followed, she searched her face for any form of swelling so as to cover it better before she stepped out of the car.
On their way back he said, "Don't worry, I will teach you Math. All smart people like math. You must be smart, Zahra. I can't stand dumb people."
Since that was what her husband wanted, Zahra resigned to comply. It can't be so bad. Really. Maths is like every other subject. She is smart. She can do this.
If only he had been a patient teacher, the learning sessions wouldn't have ended as it later did - bloody. Everytime.
Let me conclude by thanking you all for your patience especially over the past year! I truly appreciate that. ❤️
Don't forget to vote and comment and share, I need the ginger! 🥺
