Techno walked into the station, with a child hiding behind his legs, an emotionless expression, and many thoughts whizzing through his brain a million miles per second. Sure enough, the receptionist- a man in his mid 50's with a comb-over was looking at him, right in his eyeballs.

Yeah, not a good thing to do to someone with social anxiety. The urge to hurl was extreme, and every voice in his brain was spamming E. there was no one else in the waiting room so they both just sort of sat in awkward silence while the child fiddled with their fingers by Techno's side.

His breath didn't feel normal, his heart was beating hard and fast from deep within his chest. He felt his hands shake a little, balling them into fists to hide them.

"You have a cute son sir." The old man said flatly "he's not my son." Technoblade replied bluntly, just wanting to get the entire situation over and done with. He squirmed slightly at the pointed look the officer gave him.

"that's actually what I came here for." The old man held a poker face. "I found this kid in a grocery store, there was nobody around and he doesn't speak English. I took them home for the night and they haven't eaten anything since I found them." He filled the officer in with all the details.

the old man stared at him long and hard, looked at the kid, then back to him. "Do you know what language he speaks?" the piglin shook his head. The balding man opened a drawer and sifted through a few documents before getting one out and writing something down.

Technoblade looked down at the kid, who was standing awkwardly, looking around the room. He was slightly behind techno, almost hiding from the man sitting behind the glass at the desk. This was progress in this strange trust test. One minute the kid would be stuck to his side, the next they were scrambling to run away from him.

The officer cleared his throat causing him to look up at the glass wall separating him and the old man. The officer held the look of someone who couldn't give any more dams about what was happening around him, and from the look of the singular sheet of paper he had just filled out he wouldn't have to.

"You have two options here mate, since purposefully leaving a young child unattended to in a public place is a serious child neglect offence, he would have to be taken out of his parents' care anyways." Techno was almost shocked at how little the police were doing, for all they know this kid's parents could be filing a missing person's report in the station down the next few streets. Before he could ask about that the officer continued talking." So since you are caring for this child currently you could do one of two things, give him to the foster system to take care of him, or find him a proper caregiver by the end of the month."

"Latter option." He quickly confirmed, the man raised an eyebrow at the speed at which he had decided on the possibly life-changing decision. There was no way he would let the foster system crush this kid as it had crushed him. Besides Phil was already calling up so many people to try and find someone willing enough to look after them.

The officer gave him a concerned look. "Are you sure sir? There are only two more weeks left until the end of the month. That's only 14 days to find a guardian, not counting today and yesterday." He nodded as a response, he was determined to make sure that this kid never had to go through the hell hole that was the foster and adoption system.

He nodded glancing down at the kid, who held a zoned-out expression while staring at the place where the wall and floor connected. Strange child. The voices had been mostly calm, but they were quietly muttering to themselves in the background.

The man gave Technoblade one last strange look before handing him a sheet of paper that explained what to do if someone accepted the offer to look after the child. He gently nudged the kid, causing them to jump a little before he walked out, slowing down a little so the kid could follow him without trouble.
