The morning breeze felt enchanting to the one-and-a-half-year-old child. His dirty blond hair was more than just a tuft, his pointy ears already adorned with blue ring earrings. His cream shirt flowed along with the gentle breeze. His blue eyes examined his father practicing close by the open plain.

The child heard grunts of effort his father was making while displaying profound movements with his sword. Swinging his sword with accurate and precise movements made his blade fly through the air. From right to left, vertical to horizontal, he watched as his father pivoted and thrust the sword forward with a mighty roar. Link's blue eyes sparkled with joy seeing the display of such finesse.

As the grass hushedly swayed around in the field, Link heard the soft footsteps behind him. The child leaned back until he fell flat on his back and raised his chin, only to see his mother's beautiful face smiling down at him. "What are my boys doing outside, huh?" She asked as Link grunted to sit back up and watch his father.

He felt the warm aura of his mother sit beside him, but he didn't look. He felt her kind and amicable presence make him feel at ease. Watching with bated breath as his father was about to take another swing, Link heard his mother say something to him—Taking him out of the action.

"I see you're beginning to get interested in swords," She said, smiling as she watched her child look at her with Link's big blue eyes, nodding fast and smiling like the toddler he was. Link was still so innocent, stars almost forming in his eyes just by being asked about his father's interest.

Link was immediately distracted when he saw his father twirl his sword from side to side. Link didn't know what his dad was doing, but he sure as hell found it really interesting.

"Your father is actually a part of the royal guards," He heard her say, a gentle smile forming on her lips as she watched with her child. "He serves the kingdom by protecting the royal family. That is why he is always away from us," She explained. Her baby blue eyes were glistening like the morning sun.

"Do you also wish to serve the kingdom, my little knight?" She asked, tilting her head to look at her child. Looking up at his mother, Link bounced eagerly as his eyes went wide with excitement—His baby teeth peeking as he broadly smiled.

"You do?!" She exaggerated as she laughed with her child. "Well, you need to grow big and strong like your father if you want to be a knight. That means not being a picky eater, okay?" She asked, looking at Link look at her with his complete focus, intently wanting to take the advice to heart.

"Always eat whatever's in front of you, okay?" She said while picking Link up. "Never ask others for more than they can give, and always be mindful of their situations, okay?"

Sitting Link on her lap, she continued to lecture Link on how to become a decent human being. Telling him how to treat others fairly and never assume bad things about someone.

Always be aware of others' feelings, and never disregard them. Take others into account every time something horrible happens because everyone reacts differently to situations. Link's mother continued to talk while they resumed watching his father perform his training.

Fixing the straps of his rucksack, Link's father fastened the leather backpack on his back as his mother picked up the picnic basket on the table. As Link was about to grab the hand offered to him, he fixed the small pouch on his hip and smiled at his mother and father.

As the small family exited their home, they walked side by side through the sturdy wooden bridge built to get across the river, separating the rest of the town from their home.
