He sat on the concrete ground,
Listening to the tapping sound
Of the rain against the wall.
Rough, red brick behind his head,
A school to lean it back against.
Getting wet in the water fall.A boy with a golden smile
And a shirt that bloomed like roses red,
Asked if he could sit awhile,
"I can't stop you," Virgil said.
But his stay would be worthwhile;
The boy became Virgil's friend. The boy asked him, "are you sad?"
Virgil didn't know how to explain
How scared he was for his dad,
Who'd woken up and lost his way.
But he knew that even if he had,
He wouldn't tell him, anyway.The red-shirt boy didn't mind,
Just sat in silence by his side.
They stayed like that for some time.
Then, the boy asked to play a game.
Virgil didn't even know his name
When they went running through the rain.
