Seraphina walked in long strides to the platform. She weaved around people, determined to get to the platform and go off to school again. They were early, Aaron Montgomery had wanted to have breakfast at a nearby café but Seraphina had left and begun marching to the train station the moment they exited the car. "Seraphina, wait! Slow down!" her mother called behind her. Seraphina ignored her. She hadn't spoken to either of her parents since her grandmother's visit and her abrupt return to her grandmother's ranch. Her parents had picked her up from Grandma Fawley's house late yesterday evening. "Seraphina!" Adeline called from the distance.

Grandma Fawley had let Seraphina cry her heart out in a room she had for her granddaughter. Rarely used, but she made sure it was kept clean and updated the décor as she grew. The stuffed animals that once resided on the bed were now on a shelf and the child dresser was upgraded to a beautiful mahogany piece with a mirror. When the old witch had opened the door to check on her granddaughter she couldn't help noticing that the black hippogriff was missing, nestled in her granddaughter's arms. She made sure that particular plush was packed in her trunk before she left.

She had left her trunk and owl at the Montgomery Estate. If she hadn't had an appointment to purchase a spotted Hippogriff, she would have taken her granddaughter to the platform herself. Edith Fawley had warned her son-in-law not to come into her home shouting. "Seraphina has a right to be disappointed in both of you. She'll come around in her own time not when it is convenient for you," Edith Fawley warned via Howler as soon as she got home. Seraphina had heard her record the message and her ancient barn owl leaving the ranch, flying in the direction of the estate. Aaron Montgomery had told her to tell Seraphina to come straight home but Aaron Montgomery was not the head of her home. If her granddaughter wanted to stay, she was allowed to stay.

It was barely half-past nine and Seraphina was walking as if she was running late. "SERAPHINA!" her father barked. "Hey!" someone called as she zipped around them. "Sorry," she called back, keeping her pace. Seraphina practically ran through the portal and made it to the platform. She paused as she looked at the train in the station. She didn't expect it to be so big or there to be as many people here. Not this early. There was a crowd of smiling faces as parents hugged their children and younger siblings watching as the eldest were sent off to school. Envy pooled in her stomach.

Aaron Montgomery caught up to his daughter and placed a firm hand on her shoulder. She brushed him off. The Auror took a deep breath and tried again, more gently. "Seraphina, what's done is done," he said. "You're right. What's done is done," Seraphina agreed glowering with a look that resembled his mother-in-law. "I'm going now," Seraphina muttered and pushed her trolley to the luggage car. "Wait for your mother," Aaron called, his hand missed her shoulder as Seraphina pushed the trolley forward.

"Hey!" a familiar voice called out. Seraphina looked up and saw the girl from Ollivander's running towards her. Adeline appeared behind her from the portal. She pushed her trolley around Aaron, her hair flying in untamed waves behind her. A big smile was plastered on her face as well as a sheen of sweat from running with the trolley. Seraphina saw her mother freeze and pale slightly. "Who's that," Aaron Montgomery asked his wife in hushed tones. "Just a girl she met when we were out shopping," Adeline said quickly, taking a calming breath. The young witch began pushing her trolley next to Seraphina's.

"Thanks, I was wandering around the station when I saw you. I would have missed the train if it weren't for you," she whispered to Seraphina in a cheery voice. Seraphina's stoic mask broke a moment and she stifled a laugh. "That would have been embarrassing," the young witch continued.

Adeline and Aaron Montgomery came to stand next to their daughter. "Are you her father," the young witch asked, extending her hand. "Yes, I'm Aaron Montgomery and this is my wife Adeline and Seraphina Montgomery," he said, emphasizing his family name. Seraphina could feel color rise in her cheeks. While not embarrassed by her name or father, Seraphina had yet to feel she had earned the name.
