*KAT'S POV*

"Put on my boys!" my mother yells, taking her hands off the steering wheel to make a big gesture. Yeah, they aren't her sons, but she calls them her boys. I don't know.

I do as I'm told and swipe through the meaningless apps on my phone until I reach Music. I keep scrolling until I reach her favorite song.

'I love that accent you have when you say hello,

You relocated from New York a month ago,

That minivan that you drive really gets me going,

And if it feels like it's right, then it can't be wrong!'

She turns the radio up all the way, and rolls down the windows.

I love my mom.

"Praise the Lord Michael Clifford!" she screeches when his first verse comes on. That's what I always say when he starts to sing, which is funny because it makes my perfect little catholic sister scowl.

"Moooom can we get starbuckkkks?" I groan as we drive nearer to the building.

"I thought you would ask." She looks around the car for a little, but then looks back to the road. She turns into the Starbucks and parks near the front.

I hop out and drop my phone. "Shit." I mumble under my breath as I pick it back up.

"I heard that!" She playfully shoves me as I walk up next to her. I bend down once she gets slightly ahead and grab a clump of snow.

I throw it at her.

She turns around slowly, with a large grin on her face. "I'll get you back for that, Kaitlyn."

"DON'T CALL ME THAAAT" I squeal as I run beside her, into the Starbucks.

As I get back into the car with my Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha, my mom requests that I turn her boys on. I giggle because she said to 'turn them on.'

"Oh shut up you're 16." She mumbles, then turns her attention back to the road.

We were about halfway home when we get on this back road where nobody usually drives. It's like our shortcut home.

As we are driving, a car showed up behind ours. It sped up when it saw us, causing my mom to widen her eyes. As a matter of fact, I think I saw that car at the Starbucks. Yeah, but, what do I know? I turn my attention back to my phone.

"Kat get down!" I hear my mother screech, pushing me down the seat with one hand, the other on the wheel.

I do what I am told, and my mother slows down the car, not looking back at me once.

"What do you want?" she speaks slowly to someone outside, as she rolls down my window.

"I want the girl.."
