Evan woke up to the sound of seagulls squawking, flying overheard in search of fish or any other source of food. He let out a groan as he hugged Jonathan.
...Wait what?!, his eyes shot open.
Looking down his breath hitched when he saw Jonathan curled up next to him, breathing steadily in and out. He'll admit, the brunette was adorable like this, and he smirked as an idea popped into his mind; he leaned down, careful to not breathe too heavily as he had his lips right next to the smaller male's ear, and then went to speak.
"Wake up Johnny-boy~," he cooed.
Jonathan stirred awake slowly from the voice, taking a moment to soak in what was happening until letting out a yelp of surprise, scrambling to get away from Evan as quickly as possible.
"What the hell?!," he screamed at Evan, who was laughing hard, "That's not funny!"
"Aw, come on," Evan stood to his feet, "It was adorable the way you were sleeping."
Jonathan was steaming mad, growling as he caught Evan off with a hard shove in the chest. Now he thought that Evan would have crashed into a wall of vines behind him, where they set their camp up nearby, but the man fell through them, causing Jonathan's anger to vanish and be replaced by fear and worry.
"Evan!," he raced forward, "Are you alright?!"
Evan groaned as he sat up and looked around at his surroundings to see he was in some hollow structure, looking towards the ground he noticed a large basin in the ground, crawling over and dusting it off to reveal that it was made of bronze. Jonathan cautiously walked in after not hearing a response from Evan, looking around in amazement as well.
"What is this?," he asked.
Evan thought long and hard, standing to his feet and quickly walking over to explore more of the strange building. Looking at the columns and the roof, his eyes widened.
"Do you know what we're standing in?," he turned to Jonathan, excitement in his eyes.
Jonathan shook his head.
"We are standing in a signal tower, a giant signal tower. The reason this island is so oddly shaped is because it's not an island, it's a giant man made structure."
He pulled out a compass, moving around in a circle until stopping and looking up again.
"This-," he rushed over to start tearing away at vines, "This tower is facing north! Which means-!"
Once Evan pulled away he stopped to gaze at the sight before him; just miles in the distance was an island, though it looked to be surrounded by rocks. From his point however, if he squinted ever so slightly, he could make out a statue peeking out from the top. Jonathan came out as well, his eyes also widening at the scene.
"Oh my God," he breathed out, "It does exist."
"Yes!," Evan cheered in excitement, "Yes we did it! Fuck yes!"
Before Jonathan could say another word he gasped as Evan grabbed him and pulled him into a hard but quick kiss. The two stood there for a moment before Evan realized what he had done.
"I am so sorry," he started to back away, "I did not mean to- I was just-"
"No no, you were excited," Jonathan blushed madly, "Anyone would be...But how on earth are we going to get over there?"
"That, my friend, is more simple than you think it is."
Evan and Jonathan began gathering materials off the rock they were on, tying together wood with vines and making paddles. Soon their raft was complete, and they pushed it out onto the water to test it; Evan hopped on first, helping Jonathan on next as they began to paddle their way to the island.
"This is insane," Jonathan ranted as he helped paddle, "This island, this place, didn't exist on record at all to anyone, and this was where our trajected course was until we hit that storm. We are literally floating on top of At-"
The raft jolted, causing the both of them to stumble. Evan looked around, tensing as he saw a familiar looking fin cutting through the water. Jonathan looked over and saw it too, and he knew right off the bat what kind it was; a very large great white shark.
"Keep paddling," he instructed, "It might just be curious. We're almost to the island."
Evan nodded, continuing to paddle, but the shark swam right at their raft and bumped against it again, trying to knock them off. The two kept going, the island now just in swimming distance. Jonathan screamed as the next hard hit sent him into the water; it was bad enough with his injured ankle that swimming was made ten times more difficult, now the shark noticed that he fell off and began charging him. Jonathan's vision was blurry, but he saw the shark swimming at him. Just in the knick of time Evan slammed the tip of the paddle down on the shark's head, knocking it off course as he shot an arm down and pulled Jonathan out of the water and back onto the raft.
"Yeah, I think it's not curious," Evan grunted, "How's the water?"
"Cold," Jonathan breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank you."
The two made it to the shore before the shark could continue its tirade on them, now just disappearing into the blue. Jonathan stepped forward to take a better look at what could be below them, but it was too dark to tell.
"Well we're here," Evan gestured to them, "But how are we going to get past this? It's not safe to climb without the proper gear."
"But we do know that this isn't an island either," Jonathan continued, kneeling down and scraping away at some of the sand to reveal marble, "We're on another structure, and judging by the distance we paddled from the lookout there to this area, we could be in the actual city entrance. Our problem is that we have to find the entrance"
Jonathan then looked over to the right, seeing something that was going to help them.
"And I know exactly who's going to help us," he smirked.
