chapter five

As rain fell from the skies above outside, Bonnie sat inside her best friend's hospital room as she stared at her pale white face as she was connected to these tubes. Elena Gilbert stood on the other side of the hospital room, As Matt stood behind Bonnie rubbing her back in a comforting manner. Dried tears could be seen on Bonnie's face, same as the blood that coated her hands and shirt. A black raven stood outside the hospital room, staring into the room.

"Have any of you heard anything from the police yet?"Elena spoke up as she stared at her two friends in front of her. "No, they just keep saying it was an animal attack. But what animal would just come into Bonnie's house and attack Caroline like that?"Matt asked shaking his head.

"That's because it wasn't an animal who did this to Caroline'Bonnie finally spoke, Bonnie turned her attention to Elena as she suddenly stood up from her chair. "Elena do you mind staying here with Caroline while I'll go out and handle something?"Bonnie asked.

"No of course not Bon."Elena said and Bonnie nodded as she made her way out the hospital room. But once she made it out the hospital, she broke down crying collapsing onto the wet ground as the rain fell upon her.

Since the day Bonnie found Caroline, she couldn't help but blame it all on herself. If she would've just stayed away from Stefan none of this would have happened. Anger and guilt filled her. She wanted answers. And she was going to get them or someone was going to pay.

Bonnie marched to the Salvatore Manor. banging on the door angrily. The door swung open revealing Stefan. "Bonnie?"he spoke surprised to see her here out of all places. "May I come in?"She asked and he nodded. "Of course"He said opening the door wider so she could walk in.

Bonnie walked in, walking towards the fire place standing in front of it to feel warmth. She looked at Stefan before speaking "Where's Damon?"She asked.

"Right here."She turned her body and saw Damon walking down the stairs with a glass of bourbon in his hands. "Great, now that you both are here. I'm sure you know my best friend Caroline was attacked. And the police say it was an animal attack. But we all know that is not true. And I came to get answers."Bonnie spoke as she stared at the two brothers.

"Bonnie, I am truly sorry about Caroline but I can say it wasn't me or Damon who did that to her.."Stefan said apologetically. Bonnie looked at Damon for answers but received the same fate. For some reason she knew they were telling the truth.

"It has to be another vampire, that's the only option"Stefan said and Bonnie shook her head. "But who? Why would a random vampire want to hurt her?"Bonnie asked and Stefan shrugged "We don't know who, But it's obviously someone who knows where you stay. And obviously they are trying to send a message. So the only thing you can do right now, Is lay low Bonnie."Stefan spoke and Bonnie scoffed.

"No Stefan, I have to be out doing something. I have to find who did this to my best friend. I can't lay low. My best friend is dying because of me Stefan! This happen because of me, and I can't live with myself If I don't do nothing!"Bonnie explained as she cried. She felt her body give out as she fell to the floor. She couldn't breath.

"Bonnie relax..look at me alright?"Stefan said as he wrapped his arms around her body comforting her. She buried her face in the crock of his neck as she cried. "It all my fault"She mumbled into his neck.

Damon stood back as he watched Bonnie break before his eyes. And he would never admit it, but it hurt him deeply to see her going through this. She didn't deserve it, She was too pure for it.

"Bonnie Bennett listen to me, none of this is your fault. You wanna know why? Because you didn't cause any of this. If anyone deserves any of the blame it's me Bonnie. Blame me, I came to you and I ruined your life. but I want to help. I can help."Stefan told her. Damon stared at his brother like he was crazy.
