Life As We Know It

I know I'm alive.
But I'm being held in place.
And I'm hurting. Everywhere.
I try to open my eyes, but I can't move.
I try to remember the last thing I remember.
I remember getting in the car with my parents and my younger sister. I remember listening to music.
I remember listening to the sound of the instruments and voices blending together.
I remember the feeling of being forced forward.
I remember the sound of screeching tires.
I remember the sound of smashing metal.
I remember the feeling of being flipped and the feeling of weightlessness.
I remember the screams and cries.
I remember the pain of my head hitting something hard.
I remember being squashed between something.
The sounds of breaking glass.
And then, it all went black.
It's amazing how life as I knew it changed so fast in a short amount of time.
I try to remember anything else, but my memory seems limited.
I can't think, I can't remember, I can't see, and I feel my breath slowing down.
I can feel my heart beat getting slower and slower.
Why is this happening to me?
What did I do to deserve this?
And everything stops.
Then I open my eyes.
