Chapter 10
Brothers
-

Gabriel blew out a breath when I told him that we will not getting married, his voice softening as if he was talking to a ten-year-old.

Gabriel knows everything about me, we're the same age and I spent almost half of my life knowing him. But he knows better than me. He have faith and he's aware of things, katulad ng bagay na hindi ko alam na dapat kong bigyan ng importansya.

Nanatiling mapanghusga ang titig n'ya.

I let a smile leak out of my pale face.

Sweet.

"I gotta go.

But as I stood, Gabriel took my arm. He caught my gaze and looked straight with his keen eyes. "Lana, are you in love with him?"

I stiffened. Frowned, then stepped away. "Hindi." I made myself scared of my own answer.

His expression fell. "Oh no."

"Ano?"

He sighed.

I made a noise of dismissal, and followed it with a laugh, trying to avoid the conversation. "I'm one of the guys, Gab. And a fisherman. I got a tough hide, like Red. You don't have to worry about that."

I chewed over his words as I headed to Carp's room. Are you in love with him?

Am I?

Siguro? Baka? Maybe a little, if love is like the pounding of my heart when he looked at me and the sense of panic thinking he might die.

But if I let my emotion speaks for me, the answer is yes.

The man's dark-brown hair curling just behind his ears. He folded his arms across his chest, his jaw tight, looking intensely at the man lying on the bed.

In case the surgeon started to flex his muscles to me. . .

Suddenly it felt like a de ja vu. Back in the moment we held hands, keeping each other alive.

Carp's eyes moved under his lids. I expected him to get the signal and give us the privacy, but no.
