The scream was loud and pierced Elizabeth's ears giving her a headache. That didn't sound human. Elizabeth thought, it sounded more like a dragons screech.
"What was that?" Jaz asked.
"I actually have no idea Jaz" Liz replied.They waited for what felt like hours before the sirens stopped. As the sirens stopped wailing they heard the police sirens wailing up towards the school. A few moments later someone opened the door to the classroom and light glared through the opening.
"Is everyone safe? Is anyone injured?" Asked a deep voice from the doorway.
"No, everyone is okay here" replied Liz and Jaz's teacher.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A few hours later, during class, Elizabeth got called to the office.
"Oh no, your in trouble" Jaz said jokingly.
"Welp, Rest In Peace me, dead at 16" Liz replied cheekily.Liz left the class as Jaz was still cackling away. She walked through the halls wondering why she got called to the office, many things running through her head. Is mom okay? Is she injured? Is she dead? Is someone in my neighborhood injured or dead? Did our house get damaged? Did our whole house BLOW UP?!?!?!? Just as she got impatient and even more worried she got called into the main office.
"Elizabeth Gold, we regret to inform you that you mother has been killed" said the police officer. "The only thing we could find was multiple black scales in the wreckage of your house, they were by you mother's body".
As Elizabeth stood there her body lifeless she didn't know what to do. After a few moments standing there without thinking she ran out of the school. The police officer chased after her.
"Get back here", he yelled after her as she ran away.
She kept running for what felt like hours and she finally reached her home, or what remained of it. The roof of the home she grew up in was scattered almost out to the street, and that said a lot because her driveway was very, very long and her house looked as if someone had just went and stepped on it like it was nothing."Oh, my, god" Elizabeth said as her heart sank.
She had hoped this was a big joke, a prank, or something of the sort but she was wrong and her whole childhood, along with her mother, was gone. She had nowhere to live, no one to take care of her, sure she was 16 but that doesn't mean she is ready to be an adult.As she cried the day seem to fade away and eventually, she fell asleep.
