4 AM, on a school night, perched up against the kitchen counter. I was still having a silent staring contest with Jordan, there was a helluva lot of blinking, only from me, blinking back the tears.

"What the hell was that?" Jordan whispered, finally breaking our silence. "Jordan, I owe you an explanation. I've actually owed you one for a while." I began.

"Then tell me what that was!" He exasperated. "As you could probably tell, there's a lot of strange things in Beacon Hills. Werewolves, hunters, mythical creatures. And I fall into that category." I sighed.

His stare was so sharp, it could cut through millions of rocks and mountains, I knew this because he was listening extra-attentively.

"You remember the night you picked me up from the side of the road? When I was out the night of the thunderstorm?" I asked rhetorically.

"Holy shit, it's been since then? And you didn't even think to tell me!?" He lectured. "What was I supposed to say, JJ? I've been struck by lightening and I should've died, but now I'm some witch!? You wouldn't have believed me!" I remarked.

His silence was followed by my response because he knew I was right. "So this is why you've been so sneaky, lately?" He suggested, to which I nodded.

"Okay great, so while I'm out there trying to protect you, and seeing so much death around me, you've actually been running towards it. Y/n, you need to understand that protecting everyone isn't your responsibility, it's mine, legally." He explained.

"Jordan, you've done a great deal in showing me how to protect myself and doing the former, but I can protect myself, more so now than ever." I explained to him.

"So, all those times you've been 'Hanging out' With your friends, you were actually out fighting whatever that thing was?" He asked, referring to the Kanima.

"Yes." I dryly replied.

"You're no longer hanging out with these kids, that's it." He ordered.

"First of all, if anything, I'm the one protecting them because the sheriff's son is a real idiot, and second, you can't tell me who to hang out with or not." I put my foot down, there was no way he was stopping me from seeing the only good thing I had going in this freak-show of a town.

"What if you die protecting your friends?" He doubted. "I won't, I promise. I'm not leaving you yet, at least not before you." I chuckled.

When in reality, I don't know where I stand in this world. I don't know if tomorrow morning will be normal, or if I'm going to be fighting off some big mythical creature alongside my friends.
