I was at the clinic with Scott as backup, in case Derek wanted to try anything.

He opened the door for Derek, and Isaac? "What're you doing here?" I asked him. Derek answered for him. "I need him."

"I don't trust him." Scott growled. "Yeah, well, I don't trust you either." He tilted his head.

He finally faced me. "Hey, gorgeous." I let out an entrapped chuckle. "What?" So that's his attempt at wowing me? Acting like a jerk from a 2000's movie?

"You're really bad for a guy's ego, y'know that?" He chided.

"I've been told." I pursed my lips together and walked ahead of him.

Deaton gathered us around his examination table, displaying an array of different spices and herbs.

Isaac lent out his hand. I gripped his wrist tightly and nudged it backwards. "Careful, doggie." I warned and his eyes went my grip on his wrist to my face.

I just let go. What is up with Beacon Hills Boys and lack of skin-to-skin contact?

Changing the subject, Isaac looked toward Deaton. "So, what are you? Some kind of witch?"

"Nope, I'm a veterinarian." He replied, coldly. "Unfortunately, I don't see anything here that's going to be an effective defense against a paralytic toxin."

"We're open to suggestions." Derek pleaded. "What about an effective offense?" He suggested, that might have been the first time I've seen him use his pretty little head.

"We already tried. I nearly took it's head off, an Argent emptied an entire clip into it. The thing just gets back up." Derek explained.

"Does it show any weaknesses?" Deaton asked.

"It can't swim." I confirmed. "Does that go for Jackson as well?"

"No, he's the captain of the swim team." Scott answered.

"Essentially, you're trying to catch two people." He said going to grab something. "A puppet..." A copper token shimmered in between his fingers. "And a puppeteer."

"One killed the husband, but the other had to take care of the wife. Do we know why?" Deaton began, explaining the Kanima's newest victims.

"I don't think Jackson could do it. His mother died pregnant too, remember? Maybe she was murdered. I think he couldn't let the same thing happen to someone else." Scott noted.
