As the sun rose above the town of Bikini Bottom, a certain sponge awoke from his slumber. As he slowly got ready for the day the sponge wondered what the day would bring. Although the sponge known as Spongebob, was energetic and optimistic he would not yet know the tragedy that lay ahead of him.

Something feels wrong, Spongebob thought to himself. Spongebob had prided himself on being able to perform the same routine perfectly every single day. But something just felt wrong, which was strange considering the perfect lifestyle he's made.

"What do you think Gary, do you think today's gonna be good?" the sea snail simply looked back at him.

Spongebob quickly tightened his tie, a habit that signified worry in the young sponge. "You're right there's nothing to worry about," he told himself as he left for work. "Just breathe, and go to work."

Work went as expected, everything seemed to be normal, with fewer fish than usual. However, when he left after his shift, a chill ran down Spongebob's spine.

"Is anyone there?" he turned around to find no one. "Is this some sort of prank?" the sponge giggled impulsively, his way of calming himself down. The sponge tightened his tie once more. "Y'know I'd like to join you if this is one." Nothing. Okay, no one there, you're just hallucinating calm down.

He entered his car full of thought, maybe I should ask Sandy if anything weird has happened lately, or maybe Patrick knew something. Come to think of it, I haven't seen either of them all day. The young sponge wondered if the two of them were intentionally avoiding him. The drive home was mostly silent. Usually, there would be at least the sound of annoyed bikini bottomers shouting, or the senseless chatter that filled the streets. This left Spongebob with only his thoughts, his seemingly endless thoughts, doubts, and dreams. Why did Bikini Bottom feel unsafe? Did everyone leave because of him? The empty town seemed to only heighten his fears. His life was supposed to be perfect, so why did he feel like he was worthless? He'd worked so hard to build everything to be perfect. Now, something was rivaling that, challenging that, and he could feel it slowly approaching his car. Then he felt nothing, he fell through a portal.
