Eek! That was the end, and... I apologize if it's underwhelming or bad or anything like that. This story was never supposed to be anything grand, just a small project I wanted to accomplish for many reasons.
It feels like forever when I first started Into the Blue Beam—and boy has it been a ride! This story had been in my TBW (to-be-written) arsenal (on a note on my phone) for a while, simply dubbed the "Amy and Keefe story." But one day as I was brainstorming, I kept on returning to Behind the Green Door's mystery aspect... and I wanted to do something similar with its "sequel."
So, if you can believe it, I decided it would be a "heist story." (I know it's crazy XD.) What I meant by this was that I was going to introduce some ambiguous thing at the beginning (Keefe's plan), dramatize it up a bit (with the whole "he could die" thing), then give revealing flashbacks that are interspersed throughout, and, once you finish them all, you get the full picture of what happened. I'm not confident I did that great of a job LOL, but I tried at least.
In contrast, I unintentionally left this story open for ANOTHER sequel. I mean, Keefe adapted his body to the human environment, but he specifically said he can't feel. As in, anything. Is anyone sensing a Vespera thing going on here?
Also, he still has Dex's band. AND he left The Heart of the Matter with Amy, so if Sophie + Crew find out about that, they can likely put together what Keefe's master plan was.
I honestly didn't plan on most of that happening, but if you're inspired and want to continue THIS fanfic (kind of like with BtGD), there's an idea!
But if you simply want to enjoy it, I understand that as well :P.
Happy Reading!
