The shudders shook with the wind as sun rays beamed into your eyes, she squinted and forced herself out of bed although you would have happily gone back to sleep. you carried on with your usual morning routine when the phone let out a beep. You picked up with an 'Hola?' and was greeted with an unexpected voice.
"This is (Y/n), Si?" A male's voice flowed through the other line, you furrowed her eyebrows in confusion "Eh...Si-"
"Ah, Bueno! My name is Abraham Quintanilla. . . I was a friend of your father's, He used to be in Los Dinos before you were born" He muttered informingly.
"So, you and my father agreed that you would take me in if he died-?, So are you like my Godfather?" You asked, sticking your finger in your ear with a yawn. You honestly didn't care about anything this guy had to say. "I suppose so"
"He died two years ago, Why are you only calling now?" She seethed back with suspicion, "I had only received news of his death a few days go, I'm sorry about that. He was a good man" He said with sympathy. "He was. . ." You sighed in agreement.
"Well, come on now. No time to waste! You're gonna be staying with me in Texas" His tone changing completely. Her eyes nearly left their sockets, Texas? That's about 1,000 miles!
"Eh, Look. Senor Quintanilla, I don't think I should. I don't want to impose and besides, I can take care of myself perfectly fine- "
"Nonsense Mija! You're still so young! You can't be alone all the time. " He concluded the conversation and hung up, the line fell silent.
You jerked the corded phone to the floor, the crash sounded as loud as trains colliding. You grunted aggressively, breath ragged. You walked over to your desk and rested your hands on the surface, leaking your thoughts out mentally. "What was Papi thinking?! A plane trip to Texas? To stay with my so called Godfather that I don't even know? What?! As if things weren't shitty enough!"
