The tram came to a sudden halt at the top of the mountain. As soon as the doors started sliding open, the warm atmosphere of the Tram quickly changed to a freezing one, the rags that these people called a prison jumpsuit did nothing to help protect against the bite of the cold wind.
It's Christmas of 1967. The Second world war ended 22 years ago, after the Nazi's dropped an Atom Bomb on Washington DC, forceing the US to surrender, and any other country that had not yet fell, decided they did not want to suffer the same fate, and surrenderd themelves.
The black Canvas bag was quickly torn from Sabres head, the white of the snow covered mountains blinding him. When his eyes finally adjusted, he saw a group of SS Kommandants standing in front of him. Four of the five men were in all black uniforms, with a matching winter coat that stopped just above their knees. The one in the middle, however, was in an all white uniform, with the same coat on, but in white to match the uniform underneath. A red arm band was on his left Bicep, sporting the Nazi Swastica. He had the Nastiest looking grin on his face as he stepped towards Sabre, who by now was starting to shiver from the horrid cold.
"Well, You were the last man I was expecting to see in my Home," The Man started, altho it had been a while since Sabre had spoken any German let alone tried to understand it, "My name is Doctor Thomas Wall, and this is Camp Ubersehen. This place is my home, and eventually will be your tomb."
Camp Ubersehen, Or Overlook in English, is, according to the Nazi High Command, "The Fort Knox of Labor Camps", and is where every major risistance fighter is sent to. Anybody sent here under the security class of Maximum, or Supermax, never leaves alive. Those who are Medium security however, are all here by choice. They have all chosen hard Labor for a reduced sentence, normally given to them for petty crimes. Most however, don't leave the Depths of the mine.
"The last man I thought I would ever be face to face with, is standing right in front of me!" Wall said with a laugh, while turning around and looking at the 4 other Kommandants behind him. "John Sabre Moore. He is the most feared Terrorist to walk the earth, and he is standing right in front of me, shaking like a scared little cat! This is the best Christmas Present Ever! Come, let's get him down to the first level, so he doesn't freeze to death up here."
Sabre had a device on his head, that was almost like a bird cage. It locked on the top of his head, as well as to the bottom of his jaw, to keep him from being able to open his mouth. His hands were cuffed behind his back, and his legs were shackled together. Slowly, Sabre moved out of the tram, and into the relatively deep snow. He trudged his way up to the giant blast doors in the cliff face that seemingly came to life as the group approached, they banged, and creaked and screamed as they creeped open. Sabre was led to a large, industrial sized elevator. Wall turned and looked at Sabre, that nasty smile still plastered across his face.
"This place is the deepest Gold and Silver mine on the planet. Over 4 Kilometers deep, and growing ever deeper. The first Kilometer is used as the staff housing, the 2nd Kilometer is for Medium security, the 3rd Kilometer for Max security, and finally, the level you are going to, the 4th Kilometer down is for the Supermax, No good terrorists, such as yourself, sent to rot away, never to see the light of day again. You will be assigned a 12 digit number, it will be marked onto your right wrist. The cell block you are assigned to, along with the last three digits of your number, will be how you are addressed. The cell block you are assigned to will determine your job. Down here, you are not human, and will be treated as such," Wall said in a monotone voice. Wall always gave this speech to the new arrivals, and over the 15 years that he had been in charge of Overlook, he had gotten rather tired of it. "Would you like to add anything, Bolt?" Wall said, turning to one of the Kommandants.
Bolt straightened, and Sabre noticed his right hand was made of metal. Bolt's body language showed that he was very nervous, must be the newest Kommadant here. "After the booking process, you get to write one letter as your last message to the outside world. After that, you are assigned your number, assigned to a block, and then sent down to your new home at the 4 Kilometer level," Bolt said, very clearly a nervous wreck.
Wall was almost glaring at Bolt because of his clear lack of confidence. The Elevator suddenly came to a halt, and Blot stumbled forward. Wall grabbed the back of Bolt's trench coat, yanked him back, and smacked him across the face.
"You can handle leading death squads through the New Orleans Ghetto, get your arm blown off, and still lead your men, but the moment a weak Terrorist is in front of you, you falter! Get out of my sight you Schfindhund!" Wall screamed at Bolt, giving him another smack so hard, it knocked the hat off of his head. Bolt quickly picked up his hat, and speed-walked out of the elevator.
Sabre was led down another direction from where Bolt had headed, and was brought to a room with a camera in it. Behind the Camera sat a blond woman. She looked up at Wall, and smiled. One of the Guards that was accompanying sabre unlocked the cage-like gag, and pulled it off of his head. The woman looked over at Sabre, pointed to a chair against a wall, and told him to sit.
"Name, please," She said staring at Sabre."Sabre" he responded, Unsure of why she didn't recognise him, almost everyone knew who he was by now, altho he was finally relieved that he could actually move his jaw.
The woman froze in her chair, and looked up from the clipboard she had in her hand, her face losing all of its color almost instantly, her eyes wide at the sound of the name. Her eyes jumped between Sabre and Wall. Wall just Nodded, and she went back to writing on the clipboard. She soon looked up, unable to look Sabre in the face."Sit up straight please," she said, barely audible.
Sabre did as he was told, and a bright flash filled the room as the camera went off. One of the Guards hauled Sabre up to his feet, and led him out into the hall. Sabre was then led into a small cell, where he was uncuffed through the door.
"You have 1 hour to write a letter to somebody. When you are done, fold it, put it in the envelope, write an address on it, and drop in the slot on the wall," The guard said, before slamming the view port closed.
Sabre sat down, grabbed the paper, and the pen, and immediately started writing a letter to his Wife, Sadie.
