Kai is entirely lovesick. It's annoying.

Jennie loves her friend, she really does. Kai still has some high school jock tendencies and his humour can be a little too... lad-ish, but all in all he's been a good friend to her in the last couple of years. The two of them had shared good times together, and their families were friends, which was a plus.

But god damn, when Kai falls for someone, he falls hard. For someone that acts so tough, he really turns to mush when he finds a girl he likes. It makes Jennie want to throw up a little.

Despite Jennie's warnings, Kai is head over heels for Rosie, and Jennie has found herself listening to him talk about her time after time.

"You'll understand when you find someone," Kai says, staring off into the distance.

"I'm not going to find anyone," Jennie says, dryly. "We've had this conversation."

Kai grins, patting Jennie on the shoulder. "You say that now. I can't wait until you get a girlfriend and I can rub it in your face."

Jennie rolls her eyes, and pointedly takes Kai's hand away from her shoulder and puts it back down onto the table they're both sitting around. "Kai, I assure you, if I ever find someone that I like that much, you can feel free to make fun of me."

"Oh, I will."

"I look forward to it," Jennie says, bending her head so that her friend can't see her smile.

Inside, she holds back a scoff. Having seen how Kai has been acting lately, Jennie has decided that there is no way that she wants any of this. She isn't ever going to be reduced to a weak mess any moment a certain girl pays attention to her. Nope. She refuses.

Kai takes a swig of his drink and waves it in Jennie's face. "Mark my words, Jen. You'll eat your words."

"Consider them marked."

Jennie makes her way back to the hotel after Kai abandons her for the bar. She's not in the mood to stay out late tonight and all she wants to do is go back to her room and collapse onto her bed. She's about to head up the stairs, when she spots some of her friends in the lobby. Don and RM are chatting to each other animatedly along with... is that the director? Jennie's surprised. Jay Park rarely graces anyone's presence unless they're filming.

She's about to go up and say hello, when she hears her name and her interest is instantly piqued.

Okay, eavesdropping is bad. Jennie knows this, hell, she's been through this before.

But she heard her name, and all at once she wants to know what they're talking about. She knows she could just go up and ask, but... yeah. The temptation gets the better of her.
Jennie shifts around the side of the room and manages to hide herself behind a pillar, close to where the three men are talking.

"She's really tearing herself up over her. Rosie's been saying all sorts of things," Jay says.

Jennie's ears prick, and she inches herself around the pillar, straining her ears to hear the conversation properly.

Jay gestures to a table, which much to Jennie luck is the table closest to the pillar she's hiding behind. The three sit down and clink their drinks together, relaxing in their seats and taking a sip. RM glances up and Jennie darts behind the pillar to prevent being seen.

RM appears not to see her as he turns back and leans into the table. "So she's really in love with Jennie then?"

What?

For a moment, Jennie's mind stops. Of all the things she expected them to be saying, this was not it.

"Yeah," Jay says. "She's been keeping herself up all night about her."

Who?

Jennie shifts around the side, fully prepared to duck back around again if anyone sees her.

"I thought she didn't like relationships? That's all she ever says," Don adds. "Or at least, that's what Rosie says."

Rosie... They're not talking about...

"She probably just puts on a front. I mean, we all know how Jennie feels about Lisa. She hates her," RM says.

Jennie takes a step back away from the pillar. Her thoughts are screaming, and the only coherent word running through her head is WHAT.

WHAT, WHAT, WHAT?!

Lisa doesn't like her. Lisa hates her. She takes every opportunity to make a catty comment about her. They argue all the time.

"They've known each other for years, though," Jay says. "I wonder why she didn't confess before?"

"Probably because she'd be a complete dick about it," Don mutters.

RM nods. "That's exactly why we can't tell her. She'll make the poor girl's life miserable."

Poor girl. Poor girl?

Jennie backs away from the wall, her head spinning. She can't process this. She can't. Her hands are shaking and her legs have forgotten how they work.

Lisa. Likes. Her.

It just doesn't compute. It doesn't make sense. Lisa can't like her.

She stumbles back away from the three men and back into reception. As soon as her legs start to work properly, she turns and runs up the hotel stairs.

—————

"Did you see her?" Don says, resting his knees on his chair and craning his neck to see the stairs beside the hotel reception.

"She heard the whole thing," RM says, with something of a triumphant smirk on his face. "She couldn't help but listen to us."

The two of them clink their glasses together in success, shifting back into their seats with victorious smiles.

Jay smiles too. "I suppose I shouldn't approve of this," he says. "But, I reckon this'll help them have more chemistry on screen."

RM cocks an eyebrow at that. "And hopefully make the two of them happier?"

"That too."

"Anyway, I can tell Rosie that our part was a success, so the girls can do their bit with Lisa. Oh, this is so exciting!" RM says, bringing his hands to his face.

He's been holding it in, but RM has been really excited with the whole get-Lisa-and-Jennie-together plan. He's a closet romantic, and he loves the idea of two of his friends getting together.

It should make for a pretty interesting story to tell.
