When I first began learning Jiu-Jitsu, one of my instructors asked me once - "Do I have you, or do you have me?"
The message wasn't lost on me that when I attach myself to someone else, even under the auspices of offense or defense, I am inextricably bound to that individual.
To let go is risky, but not to let go is permanent. The same is true when we let go of offenses, relationships, and wounds. Do I have that, or does it have me?
"When you refuse to forgive someone, you still want something from that person. And even if it is revenge that you want, it keeps you tied to them forever."
