Taste of something unnatural

An hour after everything happened, Y/N and Boulder went out looking for Vander and Vi. It was very awkward trying to start a conversation with a Krug.

Y/N: So .... existence, am I right?

Boulder rolled his eyes and quickened his pace.

Y/N: Hey what if we don't find them? We could be out here all night!

Boulder gargled as if saying "relax you dumb fuck". Suddenly, Y/N picked up an extremely strong scent of something nearby.

Y/N: I smell Vi!

Along with having shark teeth, it was almost like Y/N had the nose of a shark. Yet it was based on taste. If Y/N had tasted something, he would be able to smell it easily. And when Y/N had tried some of Vi's blood that had been bled onto the floor, he had been able to find her easily. But there was something else that Y/N smelled. Something more disturbing, familiar yet so distant, something so strong that would only make it identify as one thing. The smell of blood. Y/N ran and Boulder quickly scuttled behind. There lying on the streets were 2 bodies. One of an Enforcer and one being Benzo. Benzo was Vander's closest friend. Y/N heard crying from inside the building the two corpses were outside and rushed in. There standing together and crying was Ekko and Vi. They both looked up at him.

Y/N: What happened?!

Vi: I-it's Silco. Silco attacked Vander and Benzo and the Enforcer lady and they took Vander and ... and we have to go find him!

Silco was a scientist who conducted dangerous experiments with powerful chemicals. He also worked on mutating animals and other creatures of the sort.

Y/N: Well then, we have to know what did this.

Vi: It was huge! Tore the two of them apart and it was fast as well.

Everyone went outside and Y/N looked over Benzo's dead body. He put his hands together and bowed.

Y/N: Thank you Aurelion Sol for this meal.

Ekko: Y/N, what are you talking abou-

Suddenly, Y/N'a teeth ravage into Benzo's body. Ekko begins screaming as blood splatters over all of them.

Ekko: Y/N stop! Please stop please!

Ekko begins kicking but Vi holds him back.

Vi: Ekko, let Y/N do his thing. He knows what he has to do.

Y/N brings his head up and wipes his mouth clean of blood. He licks his lips and smacks them together a few times.

Y/N: Male ......... very tall ........... uses hands to fight .......... but .....

Vi: But what?

Y/N: Well, how do I put this. It had the taste of human flesh. But theres just something in it that .... that isn't human. Something monstrous something deadly. Something, something that can genetically change a human's body! We gotta get back to everyone else. Ekko, you coming?

Ekko: I'm going to go follow them. I know where they went so I'm going to follow and make sure Vander isn't killed on the way there.

Ekko runs off and Y/N waves to him. Vi clutches his hand and drags him along with her. They soon arrive back at The Last Drop and run into the cellar. They both heard Claggor and Mylo bickering on their way in.

Claggor: Vi? Y/N?

Vi: Where's the-

Powder: Oh you're back!

Powder hugs the two of them and Y/N pats her head. Powder looks up to Vi who has tears in her eyes. She reaches for Vander's metal gauntlets but Mylo grabs her arm.

Mylo: Whoah, those are Vander's, you need to slow down. What's going on?

Vi: Benzo's dead.

Claggor: Dead?

Vi: They took Vander.

Mylo: Who took Vander?

Vi: Silco! Silco took Vander! We need to help him.

Mylo: We're going with you.

Vi: Whatever killed Benzo ... Y/N thinks it isn't fully human.

Y/N: It was a new taste. He tore him apart with just his bare hands.

Claggor puts a hand on a crying Vi's shoulder.

Claggor: You're not doing this alone Vi.

Mylo does the same.

Mylo: He's our father too.

Powder runs over too her bed and begins packing things into a bag. Y/N begins helping her.

Vi: The old cannery next to the docks. He said ...

Vi looks over to see Powder up and ready to go.

Vi: I need you to sit this one out, Powder.

Powder: What?

Vi: You're not coming.

Powder: But I'm not afraid!

Vi: It's too dangerous.

Powder: But family sticks together, you said it yourself.

Vi: I know what I said.

Powder: I want to fight! I can help!

Vi: You're not ready!

Powder begins crying quietly.

Vi: You're all I have left. I cant lose you.

Vi cups Powder's hand in her cheek and Powder presses into it. Vi takes a flare out of her pocket.

Vi: Here, if they come for you, take this and run. Wherever you are, light it up and I'll find you, I promise. Y/N.

Vi turns to Y/N and gives him a hug.

Vi: I need you to stay here with Powder.

Y/N: But. But I can do something. I have these.

Y/N gnashes his teeth together. It makes a metal pounding sound.

Vi: Yes, but what about Boulder. He stays with you wherever you are and he could get hurt from that thing that killed Benzo. Do you really want him to get hurt. And I need you to protect Powder, you're her closest friend.

Y/N thought for a moment before hugging Vi.

Y/N: Promise me you'll be safe.

Vi: I promise.

Vi kisses Y/N's forehead and detaches herself from him. After looking back, her, Mylo and Claggor leave and shut the door. The second she does so, Powder immediately throws herself on her bed and begins crying Y/N sits behind her and hugs her tightly. Boulder comes up to them and lies against Y/N's crossed leg. Powder begins screwing the head off the alarm monkey and throws it off the wall. It triggers the gears inside and begins clanging its symbols together. Powder covers her ears and bangs her head with her fist. Y/N tightens his grip on her. He catches her fist and she looks up at him. Y/N carefully places his lips on hers and she began to calm down. Once the monkey had stopped clanging, Y/N stopped the kiss and pulled his neck away.

Y/N: DAMN YOU COCK-BLOCKING MONKEY! ARE YOU IN KAHOOTS WITH BOULDER!?

Y/N: Are you calm now?

Powder: Y-yeah thanks.

Powder puts her hand behind her and leans back. She knocks over a box and out spilled the magical blue crystals. 3 of them formed a triangle and pulsed blue electricity to one another. Powder remembered the time the crystal dropped and caused the explosion. Y/N also remembered and as he looked into her eyes, he had a sense of dread brought about him.

Y/N: Powder no! No whatever you're thinking no! No no no no no!

Powder: Y/N! We can help them! You owe your life to Vander. Don't you? Let's go help him and return all the favours he did for us.

Y/N sighed and placed his head in his hands.

Y/N: Why is it that you can convince me to do the stupidest things? Alright, what's the plan?
