The next day at school I was halfway through my second class, History, when Rick came through the door, "Hi Miss I don't mean to interrupt but I need Olivia Conway for a varsity meeting."

I have no clue what Rick was talking about, "That's fine Mr. Riley I will see you tomorrow Ms. Conway." 

I shoved all my papers in my bookbag and walked out the door with Rick, "What is happening? I didn't know about this meeting."

"It's not a meeting I just felt like getting you out of class," Rick chuckled and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.

I just laughed, "So where do you plan on taking me Ricky?"

"Well where's your favorite place in the school?"

I just led him to the rink, "This is my favorite place in the school."

"well.... lets go get our gear on and we'll 1v1 for a bit"

Once we got dressed and got on the ice Rick found a puck for us. "First one to 10 wins. I'll go easy on you."

I just nodded my head and won the faceoff. I skated down the ice and beat Rick to the net, and obviously scored. To embarrass Rick I celebrated in his face. He just laughed and pushed my shoulder. "Okay okay that's one goal short stack."

I finally got 10 goals and Rick only had 8, "Ha in your face Riley I won," I taunted to get a reaction.

"Okay Okay you won I give you all the credit," Rick confessed laughing.

I couldn't get the argument off my mind from last night, "Rick what's happening between us? are you using me to win the Freshmen-Varsity showdown?"

Rick looked puzzled, "No absolutely not. I really like you darling and I'm sorry that I'm mean to the ducks I just can't let my team down. I really want this to work between us."

I was speechless, I didn't know that Rick could actually be romantic, so I just stared at him in awe.

One of the happiest days turned into one of the worst when I heard the news. Hans passed away, I was super close to him and he was the reason I kept playing hockey even when I felt like quitting.

The next morning I put on my funeral dress, and met Charlie at the car. Mom drove us to the funeral and I already started crying. I can't believe he is actually gone. I wanted to the grave site and saw Adam standing there. Adams eyesight met mine and he immediately pulled me into a hug. "How you feeling spazzy?"

"terrible"

Adam just rubbed my back and let me cry into his nice dress shirt, which I immediately felt bad for doing.

The funeral was ok and even Bombay showed up, which made me happy because he complimented me for playing on varsity.

Me and Connie were walking around just talking. We hadn't been as close because of the whole varsity team showdown. "were you serious the other day about staying with varsity for the showdown?"

"Honestly Connie, I have no clue anymore, I've been with the ducks since district 5 but also I don't want to let varsity because they have been so welcoming," I confessed, "I'm just so confused because Rick confessed his feelings for me yesterday but I don't know how Charlie would think of that considering that He absolutely despises Rick."

"Olivia I know you and I know you'll make the right decision."

As she said that I realized whose team I was gonna play on. I was gonna play for the Ducks my original team and my family. "Thank you Connie but you just helped me make my decision. I'm playing for the ducks, you guys are my family."
