This has been very anticipated and I wanted to say thank you to you guys, and I would like to apologize for not putting this out sooner. <3

The most dreaded day of my life approached sooner than expected and as I stepped onto the ice my hands were shaking. The first thing I did was look over to Rick who looked away as soon as my gaze landed on him. I followed Charlie As we all circled and touched the ice to honor Hans which made me emotional but I pushed my feelings back and focused on the task at hand. Coach starts to get us hyped up, "All right, let's go hunting for goose eggs. Come on, hand in. On three.... Quack." 

We all heard this and smiled at each other. This phrase meant a lot to all of us and for coach to finally use it we got pumped up. 

"One. Two. Three."

We all chanted quack until even the crowd joined in which made us feel even more adrenaline run through our bodies. Coach told me that I was playing first-line center for the game, because he thought I was better on offense than defense, so I had to take the face off against Rick. 

As I skated to the center of the ice my eyes met Ricks, And I immediately looked back down as I got ready for the face-off. Rick took this as a chance to get back, "You're gonna wish like hell you stuck with us."

"Oh yeah, shove it up your ass pretty boy," I spat back.

The ref ignored us and dropped the puck, I got the puck to Charlie before Rick checked me hard into the ice as varsity stole the puck. They tried to shoot but Julie saved it.

This is how most of the first period went. They tried to score we saved except for the couple of shots we got on them. I was playing amazing but every time I tried to get a shot Rick either checked me or stole the puck. Rick was trying everything in his will to hurt me.

The second period started out with even more hitting and even more saves by Julie. She was a phenomenal goalie and really showed it. Halfway through the second period, I am back on the ice skating to get the puck in our zone when all I see is Rick skating towards me. He uses his full body weight to hit me which resulted in me hitting my head. My body crumbled beneath me as I heard the whistle blow, and all I could see was Ricks's terrified face.

As coach made his way over to me with the medics Charlie started yelling at Rick, which didn't phase Rick as he was too worried about me. Coach checked my head and decided to let me sit this period out, but the third period I'd be back in. I wasn't mad at Rick but I knew everyone else was. I have never seen coach madder than right now as he banged on the glass, I was one of his prized players and without me, he knew he had a slim chance of pulling this win off. 

We were all sitting in the locker room before the third period until we heard the door bust open and Dean walked in. We all got up to pull Dean into a group hug because I think we all knew that he was the missing piece to winning this game.

The next period started quickly with the bash bros and me back on the ice. But it quickly came to a stop as Portman got a penalty, along with Kenny. The time was dwindling down and I will admit that even I was scared. Coach put out Charlie, Adam, and me on defense. As play starts Charlie passes it back to me and I clear the puck into the other zone.  Adam chases it using his speed to beat everyone until Rick steals the puck and Charlie takes my place on defense. Ha makes Rick make the first move and drops him. Charlie gets the puck and skates up the ice with Adam as his bodyguard and me behind him. Charlie gets the breakaway and passes it back to me. 

Time seems to move in slow motion but as I hear the screams around me my body goes into autopilot. I shoot and score just as the buzzer goes off. I did it. Charlie and Adam skate at me and tackle me to the ice in a bear hug. Everyone in the stands is going wild because we pulled it off.

All I wanted to was rub it into Rick's face but as I stood up on the ice his face hurt me more than ever. He knew that his father was going to be pissed and that was all he could think about. As all the ducks skated over to celebrate I skated up to Rick while throwing my helmet off. "You played a good game captain."

He looked surprised, "Thank you, I just want to apologize for earlier and wanted to ask if you could meet me by the varsity locker room. After you're done celebrating."

I just smiled, "Of course."

He returned the smile but I heard from behind me, "Hey mini Conway come see mom."

"that's my cue to leave but ill see ya in about 30 minutes."

I skated over to Mom and Charlie just as she was walking off. I followed her as she started talking to me. I didn't need to celebrate on the ice because I knew we would get enough in the locker room. 

Once I sat down under my last name the rest of the ducks started piling in laughing and smiling. As we were all pulling our gear off I couldn't help but think about Rick, no matter how much I tried to put them away I feel like I'll always like him.

As soon as we were all in our normal clothes, I was wearing leggings and a ducks sweatshirt with my vans, we all walked out together to find Coach Bombay waiting there to congratulate us. When that was all done I split off from the group secretly and went down the hallway to the Varsity locker room to find Rick standing in his normal attire consisting of khakis, converse, a white tee, and his varsity jacket. When his head turned to me his face lit up with a smile.

"Are they still letting you guys wear those jackets considering we beat you?" I joked with a smile.

He just chuckled, "I just wanted to let you know I'm super sorry about hurting you I didn't mean to. I just wasn't using my head."

"Rick it's fine I'm not hurt I don't have a concussion so I'll still be able to play." I got butterflies from the way he worried about me which showed he still cared about me.

"I know but I still feel bad," He said sincerely.

A hair fell out from being tucked behind my ear which Rick seemed to notice immediately and decided to take his chance. He pushed the hair behind my ear and smiled.

"I want to start over, can you hang out this Sunday, we'll go rollerblading somewhere and get ice cream?"

"I gotta talk to my mom but I'm pretty sure she won't mind, speaking of my mom I have to go before she calls 911 to report me missing."

"I'll see ya around spaz," He used my nickname.

"see ya Ricky," I shot back walking down the hallway and out the doors to my mom's car. I got in and shut the car door as Charlie turned around with a smile on his face.

"And where did you run off to spaz? Did you go to see your knight in shining armor?"

I just pushed his arm and sent a smile to mom secretly telling her to drive. I felt like life couldn't be better I had my brother, the ducks, and Rick back all in the span of a week.
