As someone who has reviewed multiple books on here, one of the most annoying things to me is the phrase "You just don't understand my book" or "My book is different, which is why you didn't get it".
First off, your book isn't unique. There is nothing anyone can do that hasn't been done before. Secondly, I can speak and read over ten languages fluently, not only have I read your "unique" story before I've done so in more than one language.
Some better. Some worse.
The thing is my criticism isn't usually that bad when I get that response from people.
It usually is something like
Me: I love this story. The flow is great. My one criticism is the chapters be a bit longer and more description.
And some people act like I just spat down their throats and insulted their ancestors over it.
