Chapter 7

Zachs POV

After Joe came to get me I was back in class trying to understand what happened with Cammie. Was she ok? We were taking notes and I was very distracted.
I looked up and Cammie was right next to me just sitting there like nothing happened. She was taking notes as if she had been there the whole time. She really was the Chameleon.
"Pst." I whispered. But she just ignored me like I wasn't even there.
After class was over Cammie was walking back with her friends. She wasn't wet from the lake she looked like she had a normal day so far.
"Cammie!" I ran after her in the hallway.
She turned around and looked at me.
"What happened? "
"With what? " She said.
" the date. You ran off." I tried to explain to her
"I don't know what your talking about." Then she turned around and kept walking with her friends.

It was diner time. I sat with my friends who were friends with Cammie so I was with her during dinner. "Cam?" I said to her.
"What?" Her word was hard cold and short.
"What happened?"
"Listen Zach I already told you I have no idea what you're talking about." She turned back to her friend s and continued her food.
After dinner was over I headed to my room with my friends.

"Yea and then she just ran off into the woods and now she is acting like she doesn't know what I'm talking about."
"She could b a robot. They don't have feelings and can forget what ever they want to. That would explain a lot. She is too good to human anyway." Nick said. I slapped him over the head.
"You're an idiot." I said.
"Well hypothetically he is right." Jonas said. So I slapped him too.
"You r both idiots." I said.
"Yea I'm with Zach on this one. There is no way that Cammie is a robot." Grant stated.
"Is have a theory." Jonas piped up. I raised my hand to smack him again, but he said it wasn't about the robot thing.
"OK let's here it." He started writing numbers on the board and ended with this huge equation.
"Jonas you can't calculate the Chameleon with numbers." Grant said. "She's too good."
"No you cant. But you can look at events and put them into number and the formulate a hypothesis." He took a breath. "Look. Cammie wanted you to go first out of the sub rite?" I nodded my head. "And she went back down to find you after only a few seconds. That means she, somewhere deep in side had small amounts of feelings for you and she wanted to keep you safe, even though she knows you can handle your self. She demonstrated that by finally going out of the sub first. She knew what she was doing. When she realized that she was feeling emotional t words you then she ran cause she doesn't like that feeling." Jonas stopped.
"I still think she is a robot." Nick said.
I slapped him again. "I don't know Jonas. So she is pushing me away cause she doesn't want to have feelings?"
"Exactly."
"That seems believable." Grant said.
" the only way to get back with her is to pretend you don't care about her at all. You need to pretend that you are forgetting about her. Like during missions and stuff don't let her go first if there is a bomb you go first bc she can handle her self. At least not now. Once she learns room face her feelings then you can protect her all you want." Jonas finished.
"Ok. Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Alright. Then that is what I will do."

The next day u saw Cam. I didn't even look all her. I didn't sit next to her in any of our classes. I didn't say hello goodbye or excuse me. I ignored her 100%. And she did me. It didn't seem to have effect on her though.

"Jonas are you sure this will work?"
"Yes but it will take some time."

Two days went by. No words did Cammie and I exchange. She and I didn't look at eachother. But gosh was she hot!
BEEP BEEP BEEP. CODE RED CODE RED!
Oh no. Code red meant there was a big problem. "Will Cameron Morgan and Zachary Goode report to the head office immediately." I rushed up past the flocking middle schoolers and freshmen and softmores. I reached the head office and the Cammie jumped lit off the ceiling. Joe solo men was there waiting for us.
"Listen up you two. There is Isa bomb in the school. It is going to kill everyone. All the teachers are getting the students out. You two need to find the bomb. Cam you r running this. We have 10 mins. If you don't find it in 8 I want you both out. Do it make my self clear? No exceptions. Keep me updated." He handed us coms and left.
"You start with the west wing i will start with the east wing." She said running in the opposite direction from me.
I looked all over and could find a bomb. "Zach I am clear. You?" Cam said through Coms.
"Comfirmed." I said.
"I cleared the north wing as well. Meet me at the south wing and will search there. We have 4 mins left." She said then I started running twords the south wing. I spotted Cam.
3 mins left.
I was looking all over for the bomb.
2 mins left.
I couldn't find it.
1 min left.
"Anything?" Cam yelled.
"No!" I said back.
Our 8 mins was up.
"Zach go! I am right behind you." She said. So I started running until I got out the door. But she wasn't behind me. I turned around and tried to run back in but Joe grabbed me.
"Zach no! I'll go." He said.
"No she is still in there!"
9 mins
"30 seconds!" A teacher yelled. All the kids hit the ground behind the walls they were at.

"CAM!" I yelled.

" I have to go get her!"

I started running to the building.

"No Zach!" Grant yelled.

I was in the door.

There she was.

I ran to her.

"We need to go!" I said grabbing her.

"Zach I said get out!" She yelled.

"Not with out you!" I yelled back.
