ᴊᴜsᴛ ʙᴇᴄᴀᴜsᴇ ᴛᴡᴏ ᴘᴇᴏᴘʟᴇ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ᴇᴀᴄʜᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ...

Heavy and disorientated footsteps found themselves choking in vegetation.

The forest resembled a sprawling fortress, barricading the outside world from seeing its true beauty- its sinister nature. That's where I laid captive by its secure walls for a many days. It's carpet of evergreen needles spiked up from the ground and covered the verdant floor with a pungent suffocating scent, which had completely filled my nostrils and had infiltrated my mind- making me loose sanity by the second. I surely made my way into the prison that held me captive. But my way out was yet to be seen. I hadn't got any weapons on my person, nor any food- so hope wasn't in my favour. I suddenly began to feel remorseful. 'Why did I leave the village...' 'I shouldn't have ventured of by myself...' Doubt consumed my brain like a tornado, sucking any reasonable answers out of my mind and that whirlwind only left miserable remarks. My body became stiff, unconsciously it began to sway back and fourth, watching time itself unfold before me. My eyes bored into the wooden jail that was infront of my figure.
I had completely given up until...
A quiet rustling noise alerted my attention to the right, I may have been hallucinating but surely I smelt burning. That thick ash smell was captivating, but it wasn't the morbid heat I couldn't stand. But rather the smoke that curdled and crouched my lungs, suffocating me slowly, until my vision went dark...

"So that's how I saved you! Technically... Anywhoo! Are you alright, how are you holding up?" The red costumed girl inquired.

"Mhm. I'm fine. I appreciate your concern of the matter though. Means a lot..." I thanked her wholeheartedly. "I do apologise if I caused you much trouble, it must have been a pain trying to get me out of whatever hell I was stuck in." Saying these things sound much better in my head, they end up being embarrassing; really embarrassing.

"No worries whatsoever!" Her bashful tone put my mind at ease. "I was on my daily patrol, I mainly look for some loot I can ask Wagner to help me forge into better items, and then I ran into you!" She paused, hesitant of what she just said. "You do know who Wagner is, righttt?" Disbelief smothered her face as I blankly stared at the girl, nonchalantly waiting for a response.

"You ought to be kidding me! How do you not know who Wagner is! MustIsaythatWagneristhebestbestbestblacksmithinMondstadtandletmetellyou, you... I don't know your name. Ah sorry for rambling!!! So if you feel comfortable telling me, what do you go by?"

...

'What place did she mention...?"

The question she just this second asked me had completely and utterly gone over my head.
"Helloo? Earth to uhm.. you!" A small chuckle existed her plush lips as she seemed amused with herself of the 'joke or funny statement' she let out.

"Sorry, I zoned out for a second, you want my name?" She nodded. "I'm [Y/n], it's a pleasure to meet you..."

"Outrider Amber! But just call me Amber!" Flashing a smile she patted my back, pushing my posture upward. Indirectly telling me not to let my guard down.
"Now!" She proclaimed, "I am going to take you to the best city of all! Monds-"

"Mondstadt."

Cutting her off, I couldn't help but feel bad ruining her climax, but I need to know. I must.
"Look at you! You... You geographer! Well I mean it isn't hard to guess but hey you're smart I can tell! Now! We are heading there right away! And when I mean right away. I mean, we're at it's very gates! Pretty much!"

Turning my head from Amber, my eyes were insight of a glorious city. Basking and baking in the sun, hitting all of the right spots to cast shadows, which made the place look so, so nostalgic, which is weird because I didn't spend much time here...

"Woah, it's so much larger than I remember." Mouth agape, I stood to think what the citizens stood like today. 'Has it changed much, what am I thinking- that's daft. Of course it has.'

"Wait! You've been to Mondstadt? How was your trip! I don't think you would've saw me but if you did then I hope I didn't embarrass myself hehe..."
"No. I don't recall you. Oh and yes, I grew up in these walls, but my family fled for reasons. Reasons of which I cannot explain at this moment. So I am sorry." I gave her a weak smile, which she took understanding of fully.

The much-used cobbled path we stood under led us to a gateway to freedom. A bustling utopia of redemption.

Or so I thought...

A muffled groan left Amber's mouth, in which she stretched, she must be exhausted, Archons knows what she's been doing, but it looks like it's done her in.
"Ah, [Y/n]. I'm beat. Let's go get some grub! But first, I must must must, introduce you to Wagner!"

"Please, don't rush, I owe you one. You did save me after all. I'm in your debt."

"Pshshsh you flatter me haha! Goodness, I've got so much to show you. So much to tell you! And so so many people I need to introduce you to! Let's just say that we're going to have a splendid time!"

Emerald green grass gently swayed accordingly to the winds demanding blows, tickling my legs as I strolled with my new friend into a new life. A new life to forget about all of the sins which had troubled me. A new chance. I hope that this works. God I do.

"I couldn't agree with you more."
