"So that's your plan," Evie said as the two of them walked, Lorcan walking just the slightest bit behind her. He told her it was because he liked to watch her back for threats. Really, she knew he was watching the sway of her arse. "You plan to follow me everywhere until I agree to stay?"

"I'll follow you everywhere even when I have you." She raised a brow at that subtle use of 'when'. "Believe it or not, pet, there will be a day when you'll look for me. You'll frown someday if I'm not here." He gave her one of his most seductive smiles. "Someday, you and I will fall out because you'll expect me to be following you, even if I'm not."

"I struggle to believe that."

"I don't." He gave her one of those winning smiles that softened his unfriendly face. "You'll want me madly someday, pet. Especially when you realise that I can make those dreams of yours a reality."

That was Lorcan's new in thing to say. He wanted her to remember everything she'd ever wanted and link those imaginings to him. He wanted her to think of him as the solution.

"But you don't have to worry," he pressed. "You'll never have to worry, because wherever you are, when you turn around, I'll be there."

Well he'd got that whole intensity skit nailed.

"You've gone from not wanting me to wanting me. What gives?"

What was with his sudden change of heart?

This werewolf was giving her whiplash.

Lorcan didn't miss a beat. "You've gone from wanting me to not wanting me. I guess we've changed roles."

She sighed, picking up her pace. The action was futile. He could keep up easily.

Lorcan had a million thoughts on his mind as he followed her. A plan had been formed with Claudio, in which he would get her out. Somehow, Lorcan was going to have to keep his distance and his mouth shut when he wanted nothing more than to tell her he knew and beg her to change her mind. To prove exactly how good he could be to her. To share with her everything he could offer.

But this was the bed he'd made. It was time for him to lay in it.

Beyond that, he didn't know what to expect. He was hoping she'd change her mind about leaving him, though he knew the chances of that happening were slim to none.

Even if she did wind up wanting him as much as he wanted her, he doubted she'd admit it. In fact, he doubted she'd admit it to herself.

The witch was nothing if not stubborn.

Her change was most evident in the night. Lorcan liked staying up to watch her. His body- as a stronger and better evolved species- didn't need as much sleep as she did. Holding her soothed him. He didn't get to do it much in the day. She whispered things in the night. He'd come to find that she talked in her sleep, with or without the influence of the visions.

"We have things to talk about," he said, drawing her attention. "There's a full moon in a week."

"Already?" A full moon was good and bad news, depending on the end of the stick. "Wasn't there one last week?"

"Different realms," he reminded her softly. "We see the moon differently here to the mortal realm. It will be here in a week."

"What are you going to do about it?"

He clenched his jaw. "What are we going to do about it?" She rolled her eyes. Right, she forgot his problems were her problems and vice versa. "And I don't know yet. We can hardly send the moon away. The potions aren't going to work this time. Not since I've been spending more time with you, letting our bond strengthen. Above that, being in your presence makes me physically stronger."
