Internally, I sighed. Our old religion teacher might have gone to jail, but I honestly believe that this man could be worse.
"So there's this charity project."
We all groaned. Not that we wouldn't want to do a charity project, but it just seems like a lot of organizational work, and it isn't our strongest point.
"Come on, you youngsters. This will be a good experience. Let me explain. Your class needs to do it on child labour. Find charities you want to donate to, and earn as much money for it as possible. There is also the yearly video and presentation which most of you know about. I have been assigned to lead you through it. Where do we begin?"
He sighed when there was no reaction.
"Okay. Youngsters, first you need to find a charity to donate to. Then you divide into two different groups. The first group raises money. The other group has to make a video and presentation, explaining the issue you're searching money for. Just like you did, people will vote for who did best. The school then donates the money everyone raised to the charity that got chosen. Can we start now?"
Jennie raised her hand.
"Can we divide into teams first? Personally, I think the team that earns money should be a lot bigger than the other one. And the vid team, the one who wins is always with like two people, someone who knows how to edit videos and someone that people like. Someone people listen to."
I agreed with that. If people like someone, they are more willing to listen to them and actually pay attention.
"I know how to edit videos," Minho said, "I'll be part of that team."
Jennie nodded excitedly. "Great and you're popular too because of your face. What about you, Sora? You're good at earning people's approval, and you know how to talk well. Yes, I think that's a good idea, unless someone else thinks otherwise?"
Everybody agreed, obviously. They'll do anything to put us together as if we aren't already together 24/7. It made me nervous to be around him, but I always wanted that thrill at the same time. Minho has always been an amazing friend, but the past few weeks left me in awe. I was scared.
I wasn't supposed to like him, that wasn't the plan. It wasn't supposed to be this way.
Our friendship had always been a buddy system, friends with mental health benefits, nothing more. Of course.. it had progressed to a little more. We were real friends too, we had been for a while now.
But the past weeks, because I kept unconciously taking steps towards him, the situation was becoming dangerous. If he found out, it would be disastrous. And now that people keep shipping me with him, it's been harder than ever to not let him know. I was wondering if I shouldn't just confess, if that was easier than this type of friendship.
"Hello? Earth to Sora?" I heard his voice say, he waved his hand at me to try to get my attention.
"Oh sorry, what?"
He flashed the most beautiful laughing smile at me.
The other classmates were standing around the computer looking up good non profit organisations against child labour.
"I asked if you were fine with meeting up after school to discuss."
"Of course! I thought we were watching Legally Blonde today though? It's been ages since we watched a movie together."
