TW: Casual homophobia and violent inner thoughts
Crimson's POV:
There are about three other patients in this hospital what are the odds there is another one named Henry?
Zero.
There is a 0% chance that those are not my husband's parents.
This is the worst timeline.
The nurse-shaped blob noticed I was awake and quickly came over.
"Miss I'm gonna need your name"
Oh look, it got worse.
Why does it always get worse?
Hank's POV:
I laid in bed angrily gesturing at the world's least helpful nurse,
"Where is Crimson?"
"We never admitted someone with that name Sir, I've told you that already"
"I need Crimson"
"I don't know who that is."
The room to my room suddenly opened and I could hear the beeping of my heart rate monitor stop for a second. Is this what a heart attack feels like?
"Please tell me I'm hallucinating from the pain killers"
The nurse looked confused and shook her head.
"Mr. McCoy you were in an accident and hospital procedure is to contact the patient's emergency contact..."
WHY DIDN'T I CHANGE MY EMERGENCY CONTACT?!?
"Henry is that any way to greet your parents?"
I would prefer to shove them down a flight of stairs, but I don't know how possible that is at the moment.
Or perhaps I can use one of the dozens of tubes attached to my body to strangle one of them?
"Sorry sir, but I'm a little preoccupied, trying to figure out where-"
"Mr. McCoy I don't know where your wife is"
Wife.
I think the bulging vein on my father's neck is about to burst.
My mother looks like she's about to combust.
I was temporarily spared while my mother rounded on the nurse.
"Doctor. My son is a doctor and he deserves to be recognized, I won't tolerate this level of disrespect toward my family. Please see yourself out."
The nurse's face turned bright red as she escaped the rapidly shrinking room.
My mother turned back to me, clearly not pleased.
"You're married?!"
My father loudly whispered to my mother, I think he wants me to hear his horrible comment.
"Edna, honey, it could be worse. At least he's not married to a man."
I felt my blood boil. I have half a mind to lunge out of this bed and tackle him to the ground.
I have to play nice. I need access to the lab and I won't have it if I get admitted to a mental hospital.
"Henry, why are you even in Dundee in the first place?"
"Several decades ago you just packed up and left without a word. We had -- no, have no idea where you've been! Then we get a call that you've been in some accident IN OUR HOMETOWN!"
