I snapped back to reality when I felt a light tap on my cheek. Apparently, it was time for the vows.

I blushed, realizing I was caught staring and I had to look down to hide my embarrassment.

Stupid mind keeps wandering about!

"Go first love."

Jeez, Alex was being so cheesy! Love...since when?!

I grinned at my self-amusement. Somehow I still found it awkward to hear words of endearment coming from him when we'd spent a decade or so competing on who'd come up with the ugliest name for the other!

I looked at the guests then at Alex and smiled. "This has to be the best thing that could happen to us. God has His mysterious ways. Now I can totally punch you without fear of getting sued!" Everybody laughed at that.

Oh, they thought I was kidding.

"Seriously though, despite our differences, fights, and my weird mood swings, I'll always be there for you like I always have, in good times and in bad. I might even consider sharing my food with you now." I smirked when his eyes lit up with hope. That was a good joke. "Awkward to say out loud but...I love you and I'm very excited to walk through this journey of life with you."

After the cheerful awing and clapping died down Alex went next, my hands in his.

"Hazel, I've always felt blessed to have you in my life. As cheesy as it sounds and I know you'll cringe, your smile has been my light; your sadness my worry. I know I tortured you a lot, I'm not sorry. You deserved all the pillows your stubborn head has been hit with! But I hated the times we actually argued. I felt like my world was shattering before my eyes, darkness haunting my very soul. I craved your presence because everything was so sparkles and rainbows with you. I'm not sure when exactly I realized that what I felt for you was true love and it was you I wanted to give my heart to. Scratch that, you had stolen it already unknowingly. I'm glad you did though! I promise to love you and keep you happy forever."

I didn't notice I was crying until a tear dropped on our entwined hands. We exchanged rings then Father proceeded, "By the power vested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now..." Alex dropped, one hand still holding mine, the other at his chest.
