If there was an appropriate word to describe the day that's currently happening it would be...
Tense.
Ever since Chi died, police officers and Suna's neighbours would come visit every single day, to make sure Suna was okay. The twins' father was currently in town, so Suna stayed at the Miya's most of the time. There was no big need to check up on the boy, because Kyo Miya was doing most of the work. But he won't be here all of the time, and Suna will need to find an actual adult to live with until he's 18.
So that's how the 4 boys ended up at the police station. Osamu's hand around Suna's shoulder for comfort, Atsumu and Sakusa holding hands. At first all of them were anxious about being touchy and cheesy with eachother in public, but with time they got used to it. So this wasn't anything big for them.
The officers were asking Kyo questions. He knew most of the answers because he was the adult Suna trusted most. And he already had the "meet my boyfriend" dinner with Kyo and the twins and they got along pretty well. It was awkward of course, even Atsumu was a bit tense, but with his usual chatty self and competitive habits with his brother the conversations went on nicely.
None of the teens could hear what the police officers were talking about. Kyo was nodding his head here and there as a sign he understood or that he heard them.
Atsumu led Sakusa to some chairs because he knew this wasn't going to end so soon. Sakusa was a little defensive at first, but he gives in easily when it's Atsumu. He cleaned the chairs before sitting down of course.
Suna and Osamu were still standing, Suna walking around from time to time, Osamu following behind him. Everyone could most likely sense Suna's uneasy mood. And it could be easily be seen from his actions. Tightly squeezing Osamu's hand, walking (if I may mention, fast) around the station, giving Osamu random hugs and seeking comfort in quite any possible way. Osamu was completely fine with all of that. As long as Suna was okay, he'll tolerate anything. It sounded cheesy, which is why he never admits it. But this was a bit different. Suna wouldn't calm down and Osamu didn't like that. He wasn't as uneasy, but he was obviously worried for Suna more than anyone.
Atsumu was worried for both his brother and Suna, so he seeked comfort too. And why would he disturb the love birds, especially when his boyfriend is here?
Sakusa also didn't mind comforting Atsumu, regarding to the fact that Atsumu is the only one in Sakusa's soft spot. And Sakusa's soft spot is guarded better than Area 51. Literally.
After a while it got cold, these past winter days have been more extreme with the weather. And now that something tense was happening, it became even colder. Christmas is near, which was one of the events that reassure the boys, especially Suna. He never spent the Christmas with his mom, he usually slept or watched something and hung out with his friends. He gave them small presents, just to be polite. Last year he felt jumpy and nervous when he gave Osamu the present he prepared for him. Osamu felt quite the same. This Christmas will be different. Suna will stay at the Miyas' for a week with Sakusa, they'll open presents, be cheesy while Kyo is fifth-wheeling. At least that was the plan.
Kyo walked over to Osamu and Suna, hesitation written all over his face. He waited for a few seconds before the attention of the two was on him. Then he spoke.
"Rintaro, you might want to come with me for a second. Osamu can come if you want him to."
Suna gave Osamu the look he knows oh so well: the 'I have no fucking idea what's going on but you're going with me' look. Osamu had no opinions when Suna looked at him like that. It wasn't a yes or no question, and it was Suna. So, no refusing. Osamu, again, didn't mind, but he was a tiny bit afraid of the look because who in the hell knows what's going on.
Osamu gave him a slight nod and a small reassuring smile. Suna smiled back tiredly. They've been here for at least an hour so it was no surprise Suna was tired.
Kyo walked out of the station, his son and his lover following behind. Some snow was slowly falling down from the heavy gray clouds. Suna liked this kind of weather because everything reeked of gray. What does Suna like about gray? It reminds him of Osamu, of course. And the color was so beautifully neutral. Elegant and strong.
They waited outside for a minute or so before a red car pulled up. Suna could recognize that car from anywhere. But right now he didn't want to talk to someone that wasn't the twins, Sakusa or Kyo.
The car slowly parked in a parking spot closest to the entrance of the station. Before the car could fully stop a familiar boy opened the door and ran towards Suna.
His brown hair danced with the snowflakes while he ran towards his cousin with a smile on his face. Suna's eyes shined a little because he hasn't seen Kano for 3 years. But he really didn't want to have family reunions, it was too... soon.
Kano came up to him and quickly embraced him. Suna stood in place for a few seconds in shock before slowly but strongly hugging back. He had mixed feelings.
He finally saw one of the people he was closest with.
But in the current situation it wasn't really the time for reunions.
Suna tolerated it anyway.
Kano's mom soon stood behind Kano and put a hand on his shoulder. Kano released Suna from the hug.
Out of small jealousy, Osamu took a step closer to Suna, not realizing he was frowning.
"Hello Rintaro, long time no see. Kano was very excited to see you, believe me" Kano's mom said with a smile.
Kano laughed before speaking up.
"It's good to see you Tao."
Kano called Suna "Tao" for as long as he could remember. It was a lovely memory bought back at the wrong time.
Suna forced a smile.
"Nice to see you too, Ko."
Osamu and Kyo stood beside the Suna family, watching. Kyo had a welcoming expression and Osamu was still subconsiously frowning. Luckily noone saw his face nor questioned it.
A police officer walked out of the station and called for Kano's mom. She left with Kyo to talk with the officers, while the three boys stayed outside.
Kano noticed Osamu and waved.
"You must be Osamu? Tao told me lots about you"
Osamu softened his expression to his natural one, but Suna could easily sense he was mad, aka. jealous.
"Yea, 's me. My twin's in the station, ya don' wanna meet 'im now"
Suna turned around so he could see Osamu and gave him a little playful push on the shoulder, smiling right after.
"Don't talk about Atsumu behind his back like that you bonehead"
Osamu also couldn't help but smile.
There was one thing he didn't know.
Did Kano know about their relationship?
He needs to ask Suna later. For now he'll just act like he usually does.
Kano put his hands on his hips and spoke up.
"Alright, let's get inside and see what this is all about. Besides, it's freezing!"
