Suna woke up at 5am, too tired to stay awake and too awake to go to sleep. A perfect example of a borderline, exactly what he needs (insert sarcasm).
He didn't plan on doing anything, but he knew he should apologise to Osamu. Yet, his mother's instincts kicked in again, so he decided on staying in bed.
He zoned out again, absentmindedly knotting his fingers in his hair. It was greasy, a result of not changing his pillow and not washing his hair at all. But he still found comfort in his own hands.
If he were fully honest, he did carve comfort for the past few days. But he's been denying it repeatedly, so he didn't think he deserved a chance to ask for the comfort now. He made mistakes. And there isn't really an undo button to all that.
So he just thought of the ways he could get comfort with.
Yet, about three hours later, when he heard the other people in the house start to move, he got a little too sick of this suffering.
In the meantime, Osamu was helping Kyo with something for work, while Sakusa and Atsumu cooked. It should be reversed, since Osamu is the better cook: but Kyo didn't want to pull Sakusa to do his work, knowing he'd stick with Atsumu who would already destroy everything Kyo has worked on. And Sakusa could keep the blonde in control while they were making the toast. Yes, Atsumu was capable of burning the house down even when in the process of making something simple such as toast. He was just that clumsy, no idea where he got that from.
Sakusa and Atsumu felt the sour mood in the house, which caused an unwanted tension between them as well. They felt bad for the other couple, and were afraid the same thing would happen to them. They still did go distract themselves, but it wasn't unnoticed how they became distant. So they cooked in the unwanted silence.
They carved comfort as much as Suna did, but weren't as aware of it.
What startled them was the sudden creak of the door to Suna's 'residence'. They both turned their heads towards the sound, gasping under their breath from surprise. Atsumu was the first one to speak his concerns, trying to be as gentle as he could.
"Rintaro! Yer back! We were worried, ya know" he stepped a little closer to the tired boy, like he was trying to catch a squirrel.
Suna didn't respond with anything but a tired shrug of his shoulders. He knew Atsumu was using his first name in order to avoid the family connections that caused this whole problem in the first place.
Sakusa stood in place, trying to find the right words to attempt comforting his friend.
"Do you need help with anything? We can give you something to eat or drink, or prepare you a bath" Sakusa was honest, but couldn't help and be disgusted with how awfully dirty Suna looked. He was now beyond concerned, but tried to push his overwhelming need for cleanness away. Suna was depressed and Sakusa was not going to help with being the OCD freak he is.
Suna seemed to like the idea, but shyly looked away, scared to actually accept it.
Sakusa stepped away from the counter towards Suna calmly to guide him to the bathroom.
"C'mon, let's get you cleaned up. Atsumu, they should be ready soon, just turn off the stove once they're done and wear gloves so you don't get burned." he sounded commanding, but had the best intentions.
Suna followed his step to the bathroom. Sakusa started filling the tub with warm water and went to grab a towel once the water was running down.
Suna sat down on the closed toilet lid, having no energy to stand for long periods of time.He watched as Sakusa lit some candles and put some things in the water. He trusted Sakusa so he didn't ask what he was putting inside.
Once the tub was filled and Sakusa left to go help Atsumu and quickly eat, Suna took off his clothes and stepped inside.
He already enjoyed the warming water rubbing on his skin, along with the scent of candles filling his lungs. The light was dimmed, highlighting the candles and creating a calming atmosphere. If he looked a little healthier and had a tall glass of wine, he would recreate the wine mom meme. The thought made him crack a smile.
Only his head was above the water, exposed to the air nipping at his cheeks. The rest of his body melted in the sensation of the warm water, relaxing all his muscles. Suna actually thought Sakusa used witchcraft for a second.
Sakusa came back soon with a plate and a glass of water. The plate contained only a piece of toast which made Suna's stomach voice its hunger. Sakusa crouched down and placed the plate and the glass on the side of the tub (it was wide enough to fit both).
They didn't say anything while Suna took the toast and chewed on two small bites. The silence wasn't uncomfortable or tense which they were both glad for. They always found some comfort in eachother's silence, being the introverts they are. And they did both have excessively loud boyfriends.
"I didn't want to bring you a lot, your stomach shrunk in size since you haven't eaten at all. It's dry so it shouldn't cause you nausea. We'll get you back in rhythm, but we have to start small. If you want another one, I can bring it. That all right?"
Suna nodded.
The toast was warm, just as the water on his skin. The toast warmed his insides, comforting his breathing and slow beating heart. His stomach felt a little more full now, but Suna still asked for another peice. Sakusa went to get it as the other boy took a sip of his water.
He ate the other toast as well and Sakusa left after Suna promised to not drown in the bath. They were both joking of course, managing to share a laugh. This did brighten up his mood and state a little.
Suna felt a lot better after washing his hair and body with shampoo and soap. He hung out with Atsumu and Sakusa in the living room after that, talking about insensitive topics. They didn't laugh often, but reconnecting felt good. Sakusa and Atsumu also felt themselves silently solve some of their unspoken problems.
Yet, Osamu never showed up.
