A few weeks have passed after their first encounter. Alaia's attempts to get Morgan to open up were a failure every time, every conversation closed with a short word reply or none at all.

~

Bustling around, Morgan and Alaia scrambled to get their routines done as they both got ready to leave for work.

"Do you want me to make you a cup?" Alaia offered as she leaned across the counter to grab her mug.

"Of?" Morgan questioned, eyes still glued to her screen.

"Coffee"

Shooting a disgusted scowl at her, Morgan replied.

"Thanks but no thanks, I'd drink anything rather than that shit water".

"Bish who the fuck doesn't like coffee?" she shot back, offended.

Stunned at her choice of words, she garnered the most honest reply she could think of.

"Me. Because it tastes like shit and I hate it, seriously don't see what people are swooning over it about".

"Wow, I can't believe you, how could you not like this heavenly liquid? It's the only thing that gets me up in the morning! Seriously it's probably the best thing ever to exist other than the internet!"

Chuckling internally at the little brunette's outburst, Morgan rolled her eyes as she grabbed her keys and walked out of the house.

"See you later!" she yelled before shutting the door.

"Seriously though, who the fuck doesn't like coffee?" Alaia murmured as she downed her cup.

~

"Come in" ordered a stern voice as Alaia walked into her manager's office.

"You called for me sir?"

Sitting up straight, he nodded as he adjusted his glasses as he glanced down at the file in hand.

"Brittany Pine, she's new here and I'm going to need you to instruct her about the rules and conditions, and also get her accustomed to this place."

"Sure sir" she replied, receiving the file from him and walked out of his room.

~

"You're Miss Pine?"

"Please, call me Brittany" she chirped in an overly sweet voice.

"Okay then Brittany," Alaia responded with a smile, "I'm Alaia and I'm here to show you around the ground office, follow me".

Nodding, Brittany kept pace with her as she was guided around the workplace, interrupting with occasional doubts and queries.

"I love your skirt"

"Oh this? Thank you! I'm not the biggest fan of pencil skirts, or just skirts in general but when duty calls I guess" Alaia replied with a light laugh.

"Honestly" Brittany replied, rolling her eyes, "I so agree with you, but that mocha shade? Absolutely stunning on you"

"It suits me I guess, considering my love for coffee" she replied with a nonchalant shrug.

"You love coffee too? Oh my god me too! Seriously it's probably the best thing ever to exist other than the internet. We should totally grab a drink sometimes, I think I saw a Starbucks on the way here"

Eyes sparkling at her fellow colleague's shared passion, she nodded quickly in agreement before glancing down at her watch.

"Well our shift ends by 3, how about we stop by then?"

"Perfect".

~

Arriving at the so-called heaven, both the ladies stepped inside, inhaling the enchanting aroma of strong coffee, blessing their mind and soul.

"Just what I needed" Alaia mumbled before smartly walking up to the counter.

"My treat" she added on, glancing over to Brittany.

"Thank you! And I'll take a mocha!" Alaia nodded, placing the order and getting herself a Frappuccino. Getting the receipt, the pair moved aside to a more quieter part of the cafè.

"You like Frappuccinos the most?" Alaia smiled to herself before shaking her head.

"I prefer a simple Iced Coffee but I had that earlier today. Decided to get something else"

Brittany nodded before her mouth opened once again. Expecting this natural behaviour from trainees, Alaia certainly had a level of patience.

"Thank you for showing me around. I really am glad that your my mentor"

Smiling at her remark, Alaia flashed her a quick side grin. Before Brittany could ask another question, the drinks arrived, while an excited Alaia grabbed her straw and sucked in the caffeine. A sigh of relief that appeared to be trapped within her, escaped her mouth.

"Seriously though, who doesn't like this work of art?" Brittany took a quick sip, flashing sideways glances towards Alaia.

"Apparently my roommate doesn't" Parts of the silly morning argument entered Alaia's mind as she chuckled to herself. Stupid argument indeed.

"Woah really? Damn how can she live without this thing?"

Alaia responded with a simple shrug till an idea popped in her mind.

"Why don't you come over for dinner? At my place" Brittany smiled and nodded, agreeing and loving the plan.

"Let's finish this up quickly and get going" With that, a silence took over and all that was now audible were the slurping noises from the straw.

~
The clicking of the lock alerted Morgan to her roommate's arrival.

"I'm home! And I've brought a guest with me!" chimed her sweet voice through the living room.

"Oh sure, I'll just get out of your way then so yo-"

She froze at the sight of the visitor. The one person she never wished to meet again. Seeing her in her nightmares alone was torture enough but having the reason for the quiver in her heart right in front of her only shook her to the core, before her eyes trembled in rage and hate.

"Get out"
