Roman did an impressive job with the choice of restaurant.

Its interior design has a minimalist touch from the wooden dining tables, benches to the wooden floor.

The tiered chandeliers radiate celestially as its luminosity travels every corner of the room.

"Do you have a reservation, miss?" The female receptionist is the first to address me.

"Yes," I reply before she scans the desktop.

After providing my name, she directs me to the reserved table.

The floor-to-ceiling windows provide a view of the twilight hues.

The view is simply breathtaking.

Since the restaurant is perched on a mountain, the entire city seems so out of reach but at the same time within reach as if all it takes is for me to reach out to be able to grasp it.

Once Roman heaves into view, he notices my approaching figure almost immediately.

After taking my seat opposite him, he grins.

"Our waiters will take your orders shortly," The receptionist informs in a friendly tone.

After we thank her, she withdraws.

Feeling exposed under his unrelenting stare, I fidget.

"I'm glad you made it," Roman breaks the silence.

Upon grasping the menu on the table, I say, "I wouldn't celebrate just yet,"

The light classical music playing in the background offers a calm ambiance.

Despite my gaze fixated on the menu, I don't miss his chuckle, "Of course, I'll answer whatever questions you have but not before I say this. . ."

I shift my curious gaze to him.

"You look hot," he compliments.

I roll my eyes.

He laughs; the rich sound capturing the attention of other guests.

"You were never one to accept compliments," he remarks teasingly.

My silence induces him to ask, "So how's work?"

"What can I say. . .hectic," I divert my gaze to his, "You?"

He rubs his temples tiredly, "A pain in the ass."

I knit my brows, "Did something happen?"

He sighs as he places his phone in his pocket square, "I don't wanna ruin the mood,"

I roll my eyes, "You obviously brought it up so you might as well spill,"

Seconds pass before he reveals, "I got fired the other day for unknown reasons,"
