SIX YEARS AGO

All I could hear were whispers around me.

I tried tuning out their voices but to no avail.

Their gazes followed me like a shadow.

"She's the girl Ludovic's dating?"

"I know right? What a joke."

"He's way out of her league."

Despite keeping a straight face, it was impossible to ignore what everyone was saying.

I thought I could handle it but their remarks began to eat me alive.

Weeks went by since Ludovic asked me out.

I was certain our relationship wasn't going to survive but he surprised me every day.

Beneath his arrogant facade was such an affectionate guy who didn't live up to his one-dimensional persona.

But was it enough to sacrifice my privacy and peace just to be with him?

Once I opened my lock combination, I retrieved the needed textbooks for my business course before heading to class.

I was on a tight schedule and couldn't afford to arrive late again if the professor noticed.

Seconds away from approaching the lecture hall, I almost hopped on the spot once I was tugged to the opposite direction.

As my heart pounded in great intensity against my ribcage, I was prepared to retrieve my pepper spray to target the offender.

My heart rate slowly receded only to get lost in those blue pools I grew accustomed to.

With my back pinned against the side of a locker, I didn't know how to escape since he had me cornered right where he wanted.

The mischievous glint in his eyes revived the thunderous sound of my heartbeat as he inched his face closer to mine.

My palms were pressed against his chest as his arms encircled my waist.

At that moment, he managed to make me forget we were in the hallway with an audience.

I tilted my face before he could close the gap between us, "I told you we can't. . ."

"It was worth a shot," he teased as he began caressing my waist with his thumb, causing the tingling sensations in my bones to take full effect.

I was losing my mind again.

"I have to get to class," I reminded him for both of our sake.

Ludovic grinned, "How can I compete with your classes when you always give them your undivided attention like they're your boyfriends?"
