The next morning nobody had heard from Lavinia since the night prior. Kenny, Drake, and Cypress stood outside her apartment door arguing among themselves.
"I don't wanna do it!" Cypress grumbled. Drake shoved him towards the door.
"Stop being a pussy and just knock on the damn door." Drake growled while Kenny pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Why me!?" Cypress whined, "If she has gone nuclear I can't do shit atleast you guys got your wolfie strength!" They both rolled their eyes, Kenny groaned putting his hands on his hips.
"You have known her the longest which means we," Kenny gestures to himself and his mate, "are more likely to get our ass kicked by the leviathan."
Cypress shuddered remembering how she got that little nickname. He also remembered the amount of time it took to fix his club.
"Fine." Cypress rolls his shoulders and cracks his neck moving to the door but before he knocked he turns back to the others point at Kenny. "You owe me one." Turning back he knocks on the door and waits. Glancing back he sees Kenny shoo him to do something else. Muttering profanities Cypress reaches for the handle turning it slowly it clicks open the door quietly swinging open.
"Levy?" He calls out moving slowly inside. Both Drake and Kenny follow glancing around with wide eyes.
The entire apartment was trashed. There were gouges in the walls, shattered glass was everywhere while cabinets barely hung on the hinges. All three made there way to her room which was in worse disarray her bed was in tatters with pillow fluff everywhere.
"Levy you here!?" Cypress yelled still receiving no reply. A thump came from the closet Drake went to open it and a black mass darted out jumping into Cypress's arms. "Woah easy there bud you're alright," Cypress stroked the black fluffball, Hex growled in indignation, "Looks like you had a hell of night lil man." His tail flicked around in irritation. Kenny looked around in concern but moved out of the room towards her studio. Drake followed along with Cypress and a very pissed off cat in his arms.
Before they even reached the studio they could see the door leaning outwards completely off its hinges blocking off the hallway. Drake moved forward and lifted it setting it against the wall while Kenny moved into the room.
"Jesus Levy what did you do?" His voice drifted out. Curious Drake and Cypress entered the studio. There on the balcony was Lavinia propped against the railing wall a half empty bottle of vodka still in her hands. There were multiple bottles in various stages of being either half empty or bone dry littered across the ground, even a few broken bottles. Drake sighed rubbing the back of his neck.
"Damn I'll go find some water and aspirin." With that Drake left and could be heard rummaging through what was left of the kitchen.
Cypress set Hex down on a intact chair before moving to Lavinia's side. He glanced at Kenny who was picking up tattered pieces of canvases.
"Hey Levy you still with the living?" He asked shaking her shoulder gently. Her head lulled to the side a groan was her only response. "Come on rise and shine darling." Cypress coaxed trying to wake her as gently as possible. She whined a little but refused to wake. However that was short lived as water suddenly appeared from above. Lavinia shreaked her hand shooting out grabbing Cypress by the scruff of his shirt choking him slightly. His eyes shot up to see Drake standing there with an empty bucket. Cypress squirmed and gasped as Lavinia's grasp tightened. She was definitely awake now.
"What the fuck was that for!?" She yelled glaring at Cypress through soaked disheveled hair. He shook his head frantically slapping at her hand while pointing at Drake. Levy glanced around her grasp loosened enough for Cypress to pry her hand off him. Falling back on his ass he massaged his neck coughing slightly.
"Holy fuck Laviathan were you trying to kill me!" He croaked but quickly shot a glare at Drake, "and you could have given me a warning you bastard." Drake simply shrugged handing Lavinia a cracked bowl full of water and a bottle of aspirin.
Kenny joined them crouching infront of her waiting for her to finish the bowl. She chugged the entire thing after taking a few pills gasping she wiped her mouth on the back of her hand glancing at them.
"What's up guys?" She groaned rubbing her palms into her eyes. Kenny frowned gesturing to his surroundings.
"You wanna explain what happened pumpkin." Lavinia glanced around grimacing scratching her head.
"Would you take spur of the moment renovating as an answer?" She sheepishly grinned. Kenny smacked her up the side of the head.
"Ouch alright easy!" She clutched her head before leaning back against the railing. Sighing heavily she set the bottle still in her hand to the side. "I was pissed alright..." She fiddled with a rip in her jeans as she glared at the ground. "This entire thing is bullshit and now I am being forced to be in the one place I never wanted to set foot in." The men silently listened sitting around her as she continued. "I wasn't given a damn choice to be born and now now the cherry on top is dealing with that arrogant son of bitch." Lavinia wiped a hand over her face before letting it fall to her lap looking up at the others. "I just snapped." Kenny nodded in understanding patting her leg.
"You have every right to be angry hun but this is for the best." Lavinia scoffed looking away again but Cypress nudged her lightly with his fist.
"He is right Levy we can't protect you like he can even if he is a bastard." She frowned looking at him still unconvinced. "We all know you are tough but these guys have a kid and your uncle has more, as for me I can't protect shit." He flicked his hand causing black smokey butterflies to flutter into existence, "I am fae who specialize in illusions which do fuck all when it comes to fighting." Her shoulders slump watching Hex chase the butterflies pouncing only for the butterfly to dissappear under his paw.
"What if I just run and hide somewhere no one can find me?" Lavinia suggests desperation seeping into her voice."Another city even?" Drake shakes his head.
"Look what they did to your sis Lev you really think you can just hide?" She opened her mouth to speak but Drake cut her off, "Skipping town is out of the question not only will they have eyes on all transportation out but if you tried leaving by smugglers that's suicidal." Lavinia groaned knowing he was right.
"Drake is definitely right smugglers are the worst option." Kenny says frantically, "they can easily encounter those monsters since they travel by foot between cities and I'm sorry but I prefer my friends not to be some Things dinner thank you very much." Lavinia chuckles but sighs realizing she was out of options.
She wouldn't have had an issue with traveling but the Droga was something she didn't want to deal with. The Droga were not only stronger but they almost always traveled in packs. She remembered the lessons in school about those monsters. Her teachers explained that when the humans started to go extinct the animals of that time went through some kind of genetic mutation. Mother nature's a bitch. Now these creatures were stronger and faster then before. Professors of our time hypothesized it was to balance out our population as we were more advanced and stronger then humans. The only animals that remained unaltered were the domesticated species but even then at times the Droga genetics can appear whether at birth or later in life. Although that was rare.
