~8 years later~
The sun peaked over the horizon and for a split second reflected off the city in a dazzling display of colors before settling as the sun rose higher
Lavinia nestled deeper in her blankets scrunching her nose as the light shined in her room. She sighed content to stay in bed as long as possible but the moment of serenity was interrupted by a low gravely meow. She felt a paw lightly pat her cheek groaning she turns her head further in the pillow. Peaking out she glares at the black fuzz ball.
"You know I don't remember asking for another alarm clock when I have a perfectly good one on my phone." She says voice still raspy. All she gets in response is another meow as she gets up scratching her head, throwing off the blankets.
"Alright Hex food for you Coffee for me. Sounds like a great way to start the day" Hex meows his agreement leading the way to the kitchen. Lavinia yawns turning on the eight AM news as she makes a pot of coffee before crouching down watching Hex scarf down his food.
"Little fatty you act like I don't feed you." She pats his head the TV catching her attention leaning over the island counter she stares at the screen.
"Good morning, I am Veronica Naddler and I am here with my co-host Morgan Baldoni. Last night the authorities received an anonymous tip of a vehicle collision North of Falcon Park at nine PM; upon arriving at the scene it was determined that no collision occurred finding a singular vehicle with five unidentified bodies inside."
Veronica falls silent and Morgan continues.
"As of Seven AM today 3 of the 5 Jane doe have been identified by families including the CEO of Asteric, Hendrick Larson, who reported their daughter missing Five PM yesterday evening."
Lavinia jumps as her cup of coffee slips to the ground shattering. Cursing she cleans up the mess turning off the TV and moving to her art studio with a new cup. She was aware she had a brother and sister having seen many photos of the two but was unable to figure out how she felt about the death. Shocked perhaps but who isn't. The most she could muster was pity but little else.
The studio was very open alot of her finished work were leaned against the walls deciding it was a bit stuffy she opened the french doors leading to the balcony letting in the soft breeze. She picked up a blank canvas setting it on the easel and played Castle of Glass by Linkin Park on the sound system as she began to paint. Focusing on the song her painting took shape leg bouncing to the beat. Golden eyes zeroed in on each stroke like a marionette her hand moved as her mind unfocused. The watercolors moved over the canvas colliding in a vibrant display of chaos and precision. As the song came to an end for the tenth time, Lavinia closed her eyes taking a deep breath she set the brush down.
Gazing at the canvas she expected another portrait of her mother but the peircing blue eyes that stared back left her speechless.
The girls red hair framed her face as she gazed over her shoulder slightly with a bouquet of flowers in her hands and adorning her head, the colors mixed and danced together but were left to drip down as if the canvas itself was crying. Lavinia reached forward caressing the shape of the girls face in awe of how beautiful her sister was even if she never knew her personally. Taking a permenant marker she carefully turns it over writing on the frame, Aubrey Larson, with her initials beside the title. She set it off to one side to dry. Checking her phone she noticed three missed calls from her Manager. Reluctantly She calls back. Before Lavinia can even speak a man's voice comes through.
"Bloody hell Vinny I have been trying to get a hold of you the past three hours!" Lavinia winces putting the phone on speaker to avoid blowing her eardrum with his yelling.
