Its been a couple weeks since Rivers and Kyoko adopted you, and you were happy. But you started to wonder what exactly it is that Rivers did for a living.
He would lock himself in the office upstairs for hours at a time. What does he do up there all the time?
You're sitting on the couch with Kyoko watching TV. Some cooking show.
"Kyoko?" She looks at you. "What does Rivers do when he's in that room all the time?"
"Oh! We haven't told you have we?" You shake your head. "Rivers is a musician, dear, he's in a band, he makes music."
"Riv is in a band? Really?" Kyoko nodded.
You coined the nickname for him after asking if there was a shorter version of his name. When he said no, you made one for him. Riv.
"Weezer. Thats the band." She tells you.
"Weezer? I feel like I've heard that before." You find it familiar, but can't quite think of it.
"Ooh-Wee-Ooh I look just like Buddy-"
"Holly!....That's Rivers? But in that video-"
"It's the glasses, dear, he looks very different without them" She says, understanding where your confusion is coming from.
"wow..."
"Wow, what?" Rivers asks walking down the stairs.
"Riv, you're in a band? You make music?" You ask him.
He chuckles. "Yeah, I do, and I am"
"When were you going to tell me?" You pout a little bit.
"Well, we were going to tell you when we picked you up a few weeks ago but I guess its so normal for us that we forgot it was something to tell." Rivers answers, apologetically.
He apologizes to you by breaking out the self-titled Weezer blue album record and listening to it with you. Telling you various funny little bits about where some ideas came from and their influences and references.
At the end, after lots of stopping and facts and jokes and laughing, he asks how you liked it. You tell him you loved it.
And at the end, you said one sentence that absolutely touched Rivers' heart.
"I want to play guitar just like you, Rivers."
