Your birthday was but maybe a month and a half ago but you've been diving your best into trying to learn to play guitar. Rivers has been helping you, teaching you easy chords and riffs to start you off.
Due to this sudden and intense interest and effort into music, Rivers gave you an opportunity of sorts.
"(Y/N), do you want to meet the rest of the band? You know me, obviously," He chuckles. "And I think you saw Brian pick up some guitar stuff once. But how would you like to meet them? Talk to them? They're kind of a big part of my life, and I'm a big part of yours, you know?"
"Of course! I'd love that, Rivs!" You said very excitedly. You had decided to alternate between the names Dad and Rivs for him, like people do with full names and nicknames.
"Well, we were going to go somewhere and brainstorm music video ideas to pitch, and I thought since we're not recording, it would be a perfect time for you to meet them." Rivers explained.
"Okay! I'll go get dressed!" You're already running off to your room to get dressed before you even finish your sentences.
You get dressed, thinking of the possibilities. Maybe the guitarist can teach me more guitar, maybe I can learn bass too, maybe drums? Were all thoughts in your head. Your mind was racing.
You go to the car, Kyoko isn't going with, and usually that would bother you a little bit but you're just so excited to meet the band that you don't really think twice about it.
Turns out they had decided to have this meeting in this morning only coffee and donut place, they knew the owner and they let the band stay after they closed around lunch. As long as they helped eat and drink the leftover stuff to reduce waste.
When you and Rivers got there, he made sure to get you some hot chocolate and your favorite kind of donut, before even greeting the band. He always put you first.
After he got his food and coffee, he finally greeted the band that had been sitting and waiting.
"Hey guys!" He said to the band before introducing you. "This is (Y/N), they're my kid that I was telling you about! They're really into music and all that, so I thought it was time for them to meet you guys." He explained.
You smile and wave. "Hi!" You say enthusiastically, yet kind of quiet, suddenly feeling shy.
Scott is the first person to greet you. "Hey, I'm Scott, I play bass. I hear you really like guitar?"
You nod. "Well bass is better." He adds. You hear Rivers scoff at what Scott said.
"I'm not going to tell you drums are better, but hi, I'm Pat and I play the drums." Pat says with a smile. As he's been a dad for a while, he gives off those dad vibes, and naturally knows how to interact with kids. Brian however..
"How.. How do you talk to kids?" You hear Brian ask Scott under his breath as he nudges him with his elbow.
He clears his throat. "Ahem... uh. Hey kid, I'm Brian, the guitarist. I.. play guitar and stuff."
You nod. "Makes sense." You say to him. He breathes in relief, thinking that he totally nailed the whole talking-to-a-kid thing.
You turn to see Rivers holding the bridge of his nose, under his glasses, seeming to be done with Brian's inexperience with kids.
"S..So Brian?" You say in an attempt to alleviate the stress from the room. "Any beginners tips for guitar you can tell me?"
"Well, your dad wa-" You hear Rivs clear his throat. "I mean- Your dad and I.. were thinking maybe I could do lessons with you? If you'd want?"
"Really? You'd do that?" You ask with a smile.
"I- Sure- Of course, kid" He stammered, knowing damn well that he really just got himself stuck teaching a kid guitar.
"I'd love that!" You say excitedly.
"We knew you would, (Y/N). Didn't we.. Brian?" Rivers says shooting a glare at Brian.
"Mmhm, yes." He replies. Rivers smiles. He'd really do anything to make you happy, including tormenting his bandmates.
Meanwhile Pat and Scott were quietly laughing at this whole ordeal.
You took Brian by the hand, he was going to ask you what you were doing, but you dragged him to where Rivers was standing, and hugged them both at the same time, like a group hug. "Thanks Dad. Thanks Brian." You say while still hugging them.
"You're welcome, honey." Rivers says back.
"Uh.. You're welcome, kid." Brian says and pats you on the back.
The other two joined the hug.
"This band's kind of like a family, we all are. Welcome to the family, (Y/N)." Pat says.
You smile. "Best. Family. Ever." You say.
After this, you all sat down and they discussed their music video ideas. The whole time you thinking how lucky you got to be adopted by Rivers and Kyoko. This is the best.
