"THAT'S A LIE!" Kiki screamed out.
"Oh, but it's true. He trained under me, until he betrayed me; however, I finally got him back!" Darkness said as he pointed to a figure in the corner of the room.
There was Kai, leaning against the wall. His blindfold was gone.
"I never knew he had such strong will power. It took me a while to finally get control over him, but eventually he was just too exhausted to fight back..."
Kiki's blood began to boil. She hated Darkness for doing that to her friend.
"Oh? Did I say something wrong?" Master Darkness said, noticing Kiki's anger.
Kiki quickly transformed into her kitsune form, which broke her restraints and the chair. She quickly lept at Darkness, but Kai quickly ran over, pulled out one of his swords and slashed Kiki's face with it. She stumbled backward, but recovered quickly. Kai was expressionless, it seemed that Kai had no feelings at all.
"My mind control ability is an odd one compared to my other skills. You see, it works like this: when I stare into the eyes of someone they have the overwhelming feeling to comply with whatever I tell them to do. This oddly causes my eyes and the person's eyes to turn black, but they return to normal after they've become woken up from being unconscious. I can give them any command I want, but sometimes I have to be specific. I told Kai here, to protect me if you ever showed any sign of aggression, but I had to give him a more specific command. I told him to use whatever he feels is necessary to do in order to protect me, thus giving  him a little bit of free will. I can also make them speak, like I did with you, but, I have to give them the ability too, and then I speak out what I want them to say. It's...pretty useful if I do say so myself."
Kiki glared at him, but then she glanced over at Kai. Her expression softened, and she looked solemn.
Suddenly she charged at him, turning into her human form and gripping his arm sleeve. She ran as fast as she could, slamming open a door to leave the boiler room.
Maybe if Kai can't hear Master Darkness' voice, Kai won't be able to do what he wants.
She then quickly shot many volts of electricity through Kai's body in hopes of making him unconscious. The electricity sparked and shot around. Kai fell limp and Kiki sat down, then she pressed her hand onto Kai's head; a beaming light illuminated from Kiki's hand as she returned Kai to normal.
Kai's eyes slowly fluttered open, and he mumbled out, "K...Kiki?"
She smiled and hugged Kai tightly, with tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Kai! You're okay!" she choked out.
  "Uh...um...you're a little too close..."
"Oh! S-sorry!" Kiki wiped her tears and said, "I'm just really glad you're okay."
"Did...did you really used to be Master Darkness' protégé?" she asked.
"Look...I'm sorry...I'll explain everything later...but we should get out of here," Kai said.
"Yeah, you're ri-" Kiki's words we're cut off as she saw Darkness teleport behind Kai; he was holding a knife in his hand.
"What? Are you-ah!" Kai stopped speaking.
Kiki looked down and saw that the knife Darkness was holding was now protruding out of Kai's stomach. Blood began to soak up his shirt as Darkness pulled the knife out with a sickening squelch.
Kai fell over into Kiki's lap, and her tears from earlier came flooding back. She let out a scream of complete despair and terror. She kept screaming as more tears came pouring out of her eyes.
Darkness just started and watched. Kiki couldn't tell if he was feeling something or not.
Finally Kiki stopped screaming as she noticed Master Darkness holding her scepter out to her.
"I'll allow you to heal his wound and let him live, but only if you promise to immediately let your... possessor out..."
She couldn't think. There was no other way to save him; this was Kiki's only option.
  "I-I promise..." she said.
Master Darkness smirked and said, "Good." He handed Kiki her scepter and she took it.
She used her scepter to heal Kai, who was breathing  shakily. She pointed the orb at the top of her scepter towards Kai's wound, and a beaming light came from it. It's magic immediately healed his bleeding injury.
Kiki held Kai up as he recovered. After a couple heartbeats, Kiki stood up and said, "Kai...you...you run from here, got it? Watch out for the others, okay?" Kai looked dumbfounded, dazed and confused.
"I-I don't understand...w-what are you doing?" he asked.
Kiki hung her head low and said, "Just go...Kai."
  "NO! I'm not  leaving you!"
Kiki glanced over at Darkness, who whispered, "Tick-tock...Time's a-wastin..."
She then turned back to Kai, and she opened a portal behind him. Kai looked back, and he turned back to Kiki.
  "No..." he said.
"Good bye, Kai..." Kiki said before pushing Kai through the portal and to the others.
The portal closed, and Kiki then turned to look at Master Darkness.
  "Do it," he said.
Kiki then pulled her hair away, which was covering the eyepatch over her right eye. Then, she gently took her eyepatch off, and opened her right eye.
Kiki felt herself separate from her body as another force took it over, and then, she plunged into darkness.
