We write the nineteenth of March 1984. London.

It was a cold day, the clouds hung heavy in the sky, the streets were full of cars that left heavy grey fumes in the air.

A tall and old looking building stood proud somewhere in the middle of London.

Rolf's Orphanage.

It may looks beautiful from the outside but let me tell you this it is not by any means in this world!

If you walk inside you will be greeted by a dark and shabby lobby. There is a small sitting area right next to the desk of the old and constantly smoking secretary Ms.Johnson.

She may looks friendly but is in the top ten ranking of mean people in the orphanage. Her hair is gray and she always had a grandmotherly look on her face.

When you walk thought the door to her right, you will find a long hallway that splits into two somewhere in the middle. For now we will walk into the right corridor. The walls were a dark grey and some neon-lights were the only light spending things there. So from this part you come into the kitchen (where Madam Katy has her ‚kingdom'), the commonroom and a door to the backyard playground (wich was the only beautiful thing here).

Now back to the long corridor. From there you can walk three different staircases up to the second, third and fourth floor.

On the second floor (the red staircase) you find the offices and bedrooms of all employees (most of them are woman ). At the third floor (the grey staircase) you will find the rooms of the orphanages (there are now eighty-nine orphanages in the building) and lastly on the fourth floor (the dusty black staircase) is the attic where no one ever borders to go up to. But what all of them forgot was that there was another orphan that no one seems to remember.

Up in the attic of the old building, lives a quiet beauty with dark red hair, pale skin and onyx eyes. She was small and skinny due to her never having enough food, the orphanage isn't the richest.
Her name:

Jasmine Lola Evans

or known under the other orphanages:

The Forgotten Girl.

Jasmine looked out of the small round attic window next to her bed and thought about how today would be like. Would the day go like any day here or will someone finally adopt her?

Why would someone adopt me? She thought while braiding her shoulder length hair. I'm a freak no one would want me and even if, they would forget me... like everybody dose. She long lost hope of having a loving family that would save her from this hellhole but no one ever did.

Jasmine would read in the backyard most of the time (she won't take the risk to blind herself by reading in the attic) or play with the pets of the older kids while they are at school.

She sometimes feels like a shadow, like no one notices or hears her when she speaks or moves. But she liked the shadows... they were the only ones that never forget her and even talked to her! Or many she just gone mental... yeah that must be it! she thought to herself the first time the shadows comforted her after she again was forgotten.

But they talked to her more often with the time she grows older. Now she is five and has conversations with the shadows every day. She doesn't remember a time when the shadows weren't there to comfort her.

She was ripped out of her thoughts by a handsome light skinned man with short brown hair walking towards the orphanage. From this far up she couldn't see much more.

„Maybe one of the kids will get adopted?" Jasmine asked the shadows voice barely above a whisper, scratchy from not using it much.

„Maybe little umbra..." answered the shadows in a genderless voice. They gave her the name umbra (it means shadow in Latin) after she accepted that the shadows could talk to her and she wasn't imagining things.

Again she was ripped from her thoughts when the sickening sweet voice of Ms.Johnson called up the stairs: „Jasmine! Someone wants to see you!"

Jasmine sighed and slowly stood up from her bed to change into the monoton grey uniform of the orphanage and walked carefully down the cracking stairs.

„You called Ms.Johnson?" asked Jasmine trying her best to hide her shore throat from her voice.

„Why yes deer! This is Mr.Gerath he wants to adopt you!" said Ms.Johnson her left eye twitching.

She never liked that girl, from the first time she meet her when Alice Rolf brought her here, she just know that silly girl would mean trouble. Most of the time she forgot about her but when she sees her or hear her name she is filled with anger and...

Jasmine now noticed the handsome man she saw from her window stood behind the old lady.

He wore a black suit with causal blue dress-trousers (how he made it that they looked so casual was beyond her) and brown leather shoes.

„Could you give us a moment Helen dearest?" he asked in a deep silk like voice but even if she was just a kid Jasmine heard that it was more of a demand that anything else really.

After the old goose was gone, the man got down on his knees so that our eyes could be on the same high.

„Hello sweetie, my name is Stanley Gerath and I wanted to ask you if you want me to save you from this ugly and depressing place?"

There was just one word that could describe Jasmines mental state at this moment:

Shock.
