Toni's POV:
I walk out. Shit. What did I just do.
Stupid Toni and your stupid impulsiveness.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Glimmer asks me.
"I made a mistake. I made a huge mistake" I say, breathing heavily.
"Woah, woah. You're gonna have a panic attack. Calm down" she says, grabbing my shoulders.
I try to control my breathing.
"What happened?" she asks again.
"I did something I wasn't supposed to do" I say.
"My god, Toni. Did you hurt anyone?" she asks.
"I don't know, it's just the way they were treating me and judging me made me so mad. Glimmer, what if they hurt my family for this?" I say, still panicking.
"Hey, hey, hey. You're gonna be fine" she says. I nod in response.
"Hey. Can we not mention my little breakdown to anyone?" I ask, once I've calmed down.
"Yeah, of course" she says.
Time skip:
"So how was it guys?" Celene walks up to us in anticipation.
I look over to Lumen.
"Yeah, I think I did pretty good. I did axe throwing and some knives." he says.
Beetee nods at him.
"Good good good." she says. "And you, Toni? How'd you do?"
"Not so good, but I'm sure I got the lowest score possible." I say.
"Good good" Celene says.
"Did you act dumb?" Beetee asks.
"Umm. Well I did. At first. But then they started pissing me off, so I went off the cuff. It'll still be low though" I say, embarrassed.
"You know a girl once purposefully got a 3 on her training score. And she won the game." Beetee reminds.
"Johanna Mason. Yes we know" I roll my eyes. "Your plan is very cool"
"So why didn't I do that?" Lumen asks.
"Because you're a career. You're supposed to be good. She's not." he explains.
"Hey!" I complain.
He just puts his hands up, in a joking defense.
Next day:
We're all currently awaiting our scores on the television.
We see the screen with the words "District 1", along with the pictures and names of Glimmer and Marvel.
I see they both got nines. I'll have to congratulate them later.
Then, I see the next page, displaying district 2's scores. And they both got tens. Jesus, I'll congratulate them too then.
Now this is gonna be embarrassing when it comes to us.
The next page comes up for our district.
I read his score first. "8"
It's not bad, but I imagine he'll still be upset about it.
Then I read mine, under his. "11"
What. On. Earth.
"What the hell?!" I exclaim.
"Toniiii..." Beetee asks menacingly. "What did you do?"
"I don't know! They were getting on my nerves so I built a literal acid bomb, broke one of their targets, and maybe even sent some of them to the medic." I defend.
"Why on earth would they give me an 11 if I was so bad?" I ask.
"Maybe they hated you too much. Maybe they did this so you would be targeted and then killed off" he says.
I shake my head in dissatisfaction. "Are you kidding me?" I complain.
