The midday sun beamed through the windows of Gajja Highschool's cafeteria, illuminating the many rows of tables and the students that currently ate on them. The room buzzed with activity, respective groups talking animatedly amongst themselves about anything and everything under the sun before they resumed the dreaded afternoon classes.
One such student that currently munched on his lunch was the widely respected student president, straight-A student Kim Seok Jin, along with his group of friends.
"10, 000 won says black team will win," Taehyung said, eyes still glued to Jungkook's phone.
"Please," Jungkook scoffed, "15 says white will win," he said, a fire set ablaze in his eyes in determination as he watched the championship of their favorite esports.
"Aish you two." Namjoon gave the two disapproving looks complete with a slight shake of his head. "Eat your lunch first before watching the championships," he said, spooning more rice to his mouth.
"How could you two still watch that shit?" Jimin interjected, hitting the table lightly with his notes in front of the two, "We have a test for Biology in the next hour and neither of you are reviewing."
Jimin frowned at the two of them, momentarily opening his pouted lips to shovel a huge spoonful of rice that made his cheeks puffed as he chewed. He picked up his notes again and with laser-like eyes, skimmed each line with resolve.
"You're already reviewing the three of us so that's fine," Taehyung commented, eyes wide to take in every detail playing out on the small screen of Jungkook's phone.
Jimin rolled his eyes even though they couldn't see it. "Who said I was going to let you two leeches copy off me again this time?"
"Yah Jimin-ah, are we not friends?" Jungkook cooed, sparing a second to give Jimin puppy eyes, which evidently did not work as is obvious with the frown on the latter's face.
Jin was about to weigh in on the situation, tell these two free loaders that they shouldn't always rely on Jimin on every test when an unusually deep feminine voice yelled his name.
"Jinnie!"
He froze.
"Jin-ah, I think someone's calling for you," Hoseok said, turning around in his seat to look at the waving female approaching their table. "Oh, here she comes."
Jin heard the slamming of a metal plate connecting with the plastic table of the cafeteria just as he felt a presence sit down next to him. He sighed as he looked straight, he didn't need to turn around to know exactly who was speaking. He had spent 12 consecutive hours in a dark room with that voice.
His friends looked in stunned silence, even Jungkook and Taehyung who took a pause from watching the Esports, openly staring at the girl who unceremoniously sat down next to him.
"Excuse me?" Namjoon asked not unkindly, brow raised high in obvious confusion.
Moon Byul Yi only flashed them a bright smile and waved a dismissive hand in the air. "Oh no don't mind me. Just eating my lunch," she chuckled as she began to dig in her meal.
The five boys shared bewildered looks with each other before simultaneously gawking at the girl next to Jin.
Tearing his eyes slowly to look at Jin, Taehyung reluctantly said, "Hyung, do you know her?"
"Yes—" "—No—" Byulyi sincerely professed just as Jin denied lifelessly.
Their opposite answers only earned the two of them even more confused looks around the table.
"Oh that's right I haven't introduced myself yet." Byulyi perked up from her seat, extending an enthusiastic hand to a blinking Hoseok who sat directly in front of Jin, "Moon Byul Yi. Fellow class A student. Seokjin's girlfriend."
