Bright white stadium lights illuminated the whole field as twilight bathed the school's surroundings in darkness. The buzz of conversation never seemed to die as hundreds of students occupied the school's bleachers to watch the much awaited soccer finals.

On the other side of the field directly facing the audience's seats were the seats for the players. Both teams talked in separate huddles, with their respective coaches in the center.

One such school athlete that was not included in the huddle was Byulyi whose legs swung happily under her as she sat on the bleachers beside Jin and with other council members at the very front seat. She took big and giddy bites from one of her four sotteok sticks, oblivious—or perhaps ignoring—Jin who looked on with a frown and a single bungeoppang.

He nibbled on the crust of his bread, the stitch between his brows still ever present. "Are you really not upset that you're benched for the finals? You basically only played one round. You didn't even finish the match."

As expected, Byulyi only finished her first sotteok stick with a shrug. "There's always next time," she mumbled, one side of her cheek puffed from tteokbokki and sausages, lips stained red from the sauce.

He clicked his tongue and shoved his hand to his pocket to retrieve his handkerchief which he tossed to her lap. "Seriously, Byulyi you need to be more careful. You keep getting injured left and right. It's amazing you're still alive."

Byulyi switched the second stick to her right hand. "If you're so concerned maybe you should give me a kiss."

He hit her on the back of her head.

"Yah! You just said I need to be more careful!" she exclaimed, her voice rising to a higher pitch for a moment before continuing in a soft murmur, "And you're the one injuring me."

Byulyi haphazardly took tteokbokki off the stick and continued to chew with pouted lips. Jin opened his mouth to retort when his eyes fell on the small bump on the back of her head.

And the bandaid on her cheek.

And the part of her arm where she got slashed last week.

Jin released a sigh from the deepest part of his lungs as his shoulders deflated in defeat.

"I'm sorry," he mumbled quietly, facing the empty field so that he wouldn't have to deal with the way Byulyi slowly turned to face him, sotteok midway to her mouth.

Jin cleared his throat and nudged her elbow with his. "Eat quickly, the finals are starting soon."

Just as he finished speaking, horns blared through the huge speakers and a new wave of gasps rolled through the crowd. Whistles, 'whoops', and miscellaneous excited chatter swelled as the MC began the introduction.

Likewise, the officers in their area joined in with the cheering.

Weirdly enough, Byulyi was silent.

Jin turned to look at her with curiosity. Only to find her in a state that had Jin coughing in his own spit—eyes closed lips puckered, faces mere inches from his..

"Fucking hell Byulyi." He pushed her face away with his palm and focused on observing the teams as they walked to position to bring his mind away from his seatmate.

Byulyi only chuckled beside him and playfully bumped her shoulder with his.

The game between the blue team and yellow team was done and over quicker than the first game—though it wasn't much of a shock to most since the blue team were mostly made up of fourth year athletes while the yellow team were second years.
