Meda loved the small house that Thena and Gilgamesh had built for themselves. The warm Australian sun was a nice change from the temperate Scottish weather that she had grown accustomed to over the past few years. As she approached the little hut, the smell of pie came wafting towards her. Gilgamesh had become a great cook over the years and Meda always looked forward to the feasts he would make while she was staying with them.
"Hey Gil, catch!" Meda said as she tossed a can of Haggis towards where Gilgamesh was bent over the table outside. He raised his arm too slowly to catch the can. Insted it hit him in the chest, causing him to let out a groan. "You're getting slow in your old age my friend."
"Last time I checked we're the same age, Meda."
"That may be so, but I pull it off better," she replied with a wink. Gilgamesh grabbed the can from where it had fallen and inspected it.
"Scotland? Is that where you've been hiding out lately? I hope you brought...." Meda pulled a bottle of whiskey from her bag before he could finish his sentence. "Now this is what I'm talking about. I knew you wouldn't disappoint."
"Where's Thena?"
"She's out back by the shed. Did you bring more trinkets for her collection?"
"You know I did." Meda moved towards the back of the house knowing that Thena would be meditating out by the large tree that stood on a hill not far away from the house. She saw the long blonde hair and the flowing white dress that were identifying features of her friend. She approached slowly making sure to make as much noise as possible so that Thena wouldn't be surprised by her sudden appearance. Meda stopped a few feet away and just looked towards Thena who sat eyes closed with her back up against the large tree. Before Meda could speak, Thena's eyes opened with eyebrows raised.
"I'm not having an episode if that's what you're worried about," Thena said, sounding a bit despondent.
"Thena, it's like you don't even know me. We both know I could take you in a fight. I have nothing to worry about," Meda replied hoping to make Thena laugh. "I brought you something."
Thena perked up as Meda sat beside her, handing over a small metal badge. It was an old Scottish heirloom that depicted a lady holding a sword aloft in her hand. The depiction itself was based off of Thena when the Eternals spent time in Scotland in the 12th century. Meda tried to bring something from every place she lived for Thena and Gilgamesh. Thena was known in cultures all over the world, most notably in Greek mythology as the warrior goddess Athena, but her influence was spread far and wide across the globe. Meda liked to bring these memories back for Thena considering she very rarely left the home that her and Gilgamesh had made. Gilgamesh on the other hand was usually happy with some kind of alcohol.
Thena took the badge and turned it in her hands. She was silent for a moment before she rested her head on Meda's shoulder.
"I had forgotten all about this, I appreciate that you've brought these memories back to me," Thena paused before laughing. "This is either a poor likeness of me or I've gotten a lot better looking over the years."
Meda started to laugh with her. Standing up and reaching her hand out to Thena, the pair returned to where Gilgamesh was waiting, pie in hand.
"Dinner time," he yelled once they were close enough.
"I've missed this place. You guys might have a hard time getting rid of me," Meda said, sitting down at the table that was overflowing with food. Looking around, Meda felt at peace for the first time in a while.
