Y/n sat alone in a restaurant eating some Chicken and Dumplings made by one of his mother's cousins, his Aunt Cora. Cora's customers watched the young Branwen play with his food while holding his head up with his left hand as he moved the spoon around in the bowl.

Cora sighed heavily before turning to her husband, Jack.

"Can you handle things for now?" Cora asked.

"Yeah, I got things under control. Go talk to him." Jack answers with a warm smile as he dries a bowl with a towel.

"Thanks, hon!" Cora said before she made her way to her godson.

Cora heard her younger cousin's son sigh as she sat down next to him.

"You okay, kiddo?" Cora asked her godson.

"No, my mom's friend really hurt my feelings a couple days ago." Y/n said glumly.

"I see. And did you tell your mom where you went?" Cora asked.

"No. I kinda thought she'd figure it out on her own. She's smart like that." Y/n said, complimenting his mother's intelligence.

"You're right about that. I ran four miles away from my Uncle Tai's house and hid in a complex grove of bushes when Yang climbed up the trunk of one and found me by looking straight down." Cora said with a chuckle.

"Really?" Y/n asked.

"Unbelievably so. Hehe. Anyway, do you have anywhere to be right now?" Cora asked.

"Yeah, my friend by the docks." Y/n said.

"Mhm." Cora said before

Later

Y/n returned to the dorm with his mom expressing great relief upon seeing him safe.

"Where the hell did you go?" Yang asked after pulling away from the hug.

"Auntie Cora's," Y/n answered.

Yang gazed into her son's eyes and asked, "why didn't either of you call me?"

Y/n shifted uncomfortably, looking away from his mother, not wanting to meet her gaze. "I didn't want you to yell at me."

Yang sighed and placed her hands on her son's shoulders. "You had plenty of reason for storming off. However, it was a rash decision that could have ended much worse than it actually did."

Y/n stared at the floor in shame. "I know."

Yang smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm just glad you're safe. Please, don't ever do that again. Or at least tell me where you're going next time."

Y/n nodded. "Yes, ma'am."

Yang relaxed and said, "Good."

Y/n turned to Weiss and approached her slowly. "I...I shouldn't have been so rude to you the when Blake Stormed off. I was angry and it all boiled over like a teapot. I...I'm sorry for acting like that. Is there any way you could ever forgive me?"

Yang stared at Y/n for a moment while eyeing Weiss who had stood up. As Yang watched her closely, Weiss stopped before Y/n, her eyes seemingly cold as ice. Y/n clenched his eyes tightly waiting for a slap, a slap that never came. What came was a tight hug and a breath of relief.

"Don't ever do that again, you golden dolt."

Y/n smiled warmly and wraps his arms around the young heiress, tightening his embrace.

When Y/n approached his Aunt Ruby, she smiled and asked, "So, Goldie, huh?"

Y/n smiled at his new nickname before climbing into bed with his aunt, falling asleep in her arms later that night with a smile on his face.

Yang turned to Weiss as she sat by the window. "Thanks, Weiss."

Weiss sighed and closed her eyes. "It wasn't my place to judge him."
