Chapter 2
"Dibs on the bed!" Eric yelled before belly flopping on one of the twin size beds.
Tyler, however, did not agree with it at all. "Eric, you're the youngest," he said. "You get the couch." Sleeping on the couch wasn't as bad considering it turned into a bed.
Eric frowned and crossed his arms, not moving from his spot on the bed. "Isn't it always oldest to youngest?" he asked.
Before Tyler and Eric could break into an argument, I said, "Guys, don't worry. I'll take the couch." It wasn't that big of a deal to me. Being in this luxurious suite definitely meant that even sleeping on the fold out bed was going to be comfortable.
"Are you sure?" Tyler asked. "I can force Eric to sleep on the couch."
"Not the best idea," I said. "Remember on Christmas when Massey took a chocolate out of his stocking?" I tried not laughing at the image of my twin sister's orange hair. She hated the color orange.
Tyler snorted. "How could I forget? That was the best thing ever."
"I can do it to you," Eric said simply. "I brought my pranking kit with me."
Tyler faced our younger brother. "Feel free to sleep on the bed."
Suddenly, a very familiar voice yelling, "MOM!" made me walk out of the room. Massey, Carter, and Katie were in the room beside the one we were in so it didn't surprise me when I could hear her yelling. "Carter won't let me have one of the beds!" Massey was standing outside of her room, arms crossed over her chest.
"Massey, chill," I said. "Just sleep on the fold put bed."
"But I'm the oldest in the room," she whined. "I should have the bed!"
"I don't have the bed," I pointed out.
"Well, you share a room with Eric," Massey said. "That's worse than sharing a room with Carter."
"I heard that!" Carter yelled from inside the room.
"Good!" Massey yelled back.
Mom walked out of her room with Dad and Zoey, which was on the other side of mine. "Massey, can you please stop yelling? Other people will probably start complaining soon."
"Mom, can you tell Carter to take the fold out bed?" Massey asked, her voice quieting down, thankfully.
Katie walked out of the room with a sigh. "Massey, I'll take the fold out bed. It's fine."
"But you're the guest," Massey said.
Katie shook her head. "Seriously, I don't mind. It's not like it will be uncomfortable. Have you seen the rest of the room?"
"There, it's settled," Mom said, walking back in her room. She was obviously tired of Massey's constant whining about every little thing. Even I was and I was Massey's twin. I only had ten minutes of freedom before she was born.
Those were the days. Well, minutes.
And I spent them in an incubator because I had a breathing problem.
Still, it was better than hearing Massey complain.
Massey frowned and walked back into her room. Katie looked at me. "Who has the fold out bed in your room?" she asked.
"I do," I replied.
Normally, I didn't talk to anyone outside of my family, but Katie and Massey had been friends for years so I ended up getting used to talking to Katie. She was really friendly and knew about my selective mutism. Whenever she went out somewhere with my family to a public place, she made sure I wasn't left alone and have someone attempt to talk to me. "Eric and Tyler both wanted the bed and it's best not to force Eric to have the fold out bed."
Katie laughed, probably at the memory of Massey's orange hair. "Didn't want orange hair?"
I chuckled as well. "No, not really. It took a week to wash out and we're going to be on this cruise for more than a week. I wouldn't do that well with having people laugh at me. That would only make me feel even more insecure."
"True," Katie said. "Well, I bet the bed isn't uncomfortable. The suite is luxurious."
"Exactly how I feel," I said. "My parents have been saving up for years for this trip."
"I'm glad I get to come," she said with a smile. "I'm about to go swimming on the Lido Deck. Wanna come?" The cruise ship had twelve decks and all of them had something amazing on them, besides the ones that just had suites.
"Maybe later," I said. "I still have to unpack."
"Okay," Katie said. "I'll probably be there for a while, so just come by if you want to hang out." She went back into her suite.
I went back into mine and started unpacking my clothes into one of the dressers there. There were only two dressers and two closets, which was well enough for the three of us. I could only imagine Massey trying to take up most of the closet and dresser space next door seeing as she claimed her clothes needed their space. She loved clothes as much as I loved music and art.
The foghorn suddenly sounded, signalling the cruise was officially starting. This was going to be an interesting fifteen days.
