16 (Chunin Exams 3)

The next two days I layed and recovered with Sasuke. At daybreak when everyone was up I told them that I would be on my way. "W-What!" Naruto was surprised. "I can't help you anymore, I shouldn't have in the first place. Sorry, promise me I will see you at the tower with a heaven and earth scroll. "Promise." Sakura said. I looked at Naruto. "I promise believe it." I looked at Sasuke. "We will come with both scrolls on time, promise." "Alright, see you there." I teleported to the tower. There is only two days left.

"Y/N!" I was greeted by Anko tackling me to the floor. "I thought you died, I was so worried. Kakashi would have hung me if Orochimaru killed you." I tried pushing her off of me. "Well I am not dead.....However." She got off of me and we stood up. "Me and Sasuke Uchiha have curse marks." She was shocked. "Can I see." She asked. "Yes but it will take me a second since my undershirt is connected to my mask." I took off my ANBU armor and lifted up my under shirt all the way to the bottom of my neck. My skin was still pierced and part of my clothing was ripped from the puncture wounds of his teeth. "I will have my dad seal it later." I said putting my clothes back on. 

Nothing happened until the last day. When Hiruzen came to the tower to check on Anko and I. "How is it?" Hiruzen asked. "It hurts like hell, I can tell you that." I grabbed my neck. "Anyway, Orochimaru is one of those three legendary leaf ninja's, right? He was so powerful not even the ANBU black ops could bring him down. I heard a rumor that he died but I guess it wasn't true." Kotetsu said. "Why did he come to the village now?" Izumo asked, Anko gasped. "He is after me and Sasuke." I stated. "Anko, twenty-one second exam finishers have now been confirmed." Someone said through a walky talky. "Because there are so many people left before the third exam, preliminaries are planned. The second exam is now over." No word were said for a couple of seconds. "We will have the chunin exams continue as planned but we will keep an eye on his movements." The third said.

I was standing behind Hiruzen by myself. We were in the room where the preliminaries were being held. I was relieved to see that team 7 made it through the second exam. "First off, congratulations on finishing the second exam." The genin were talking among themselves. I heard uncle Guy yell in defeat. I turned to see him hold up his fist turned away from Kakashi. Everything was at a stand still. "Now then, we will now have the explanation of the third exam from lord third. So listen carefully, everybody! Lord hokage they are all yours." Anko passed the responsibility's to Hiruzen. He walked forward a couple of steps and cleared his throat. "Before the explanation of the third exam that we will start from now, I have one thing I want to say. About the purpose of these exams. Why do allied nations conduct the exams on a conjoint basis? Raising the levels of the shinobi and friendship among allied nations. It won't do to have the wrong idea of the true meaning of that statement. Theses exams are so to speak........A microcosm of battle between allied nations." "What does that mean?" A girl in pink with two buns on each side of her head asked. "If we look back on history, the allied nations of today were once neighboring nations the continued to vie with each other and battle for power. In order to avoid a futile crushing of each other's military strength, those nations mutually selected a place to battle. And that was how the chunin exams originally began." Hiruzen explained. "Well that is great, but why do we have to go through these exams then?" Naruto questioned. "It is not like we are choosing chunin to go and fight." "There is no question that these exams are to select shinobi worthy of becoming chunin. But on the other hand." I tuned Hiuzen out it all just got too boring. I kept on thinking about what I should do in the future to become stronger. I need to take more ANBU classes, my medical ninjustsu is lacking quite a bit. I also want to train with uncle guy and Lee more since I haven't done that in a while. "Now then, this is where I'd like to explain the third exam." He coughed and another random showed up in front kneeling. "Master Hokage, please allow me, Hayate Gekko, appointed as proctor of the third exam. To speak first." He asked. "So be it." Hayate turned around to face the kids. "It is nice to meet you all." He started violently coughing. I should start handing out spare masks, somebody is going to get sick just by being near him. "I would like all of you to do something before the third exam." He starts coughing even more. "We need to have a preliminary exam before the real one." Some of the kids gasped. "PRELIMINARY! JUST WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?!" Shikimaru yelled. "Why don't we just move to the third exam?" Sakura asked. "Well the first and second exams could have been too easy. The fact is we didn't know there would be so many of you left. In the rules a preliminary round can be held before any exam to reduce the number of people advancing." Hayate explained. "Because very important people will be showing up for the third exam we need less candidates. Therefore, those of you not in top physical condition." He starts coughing again. "As I was saying if you don't feel up to it, you can leave. The preliminaries will be starting imminently." The genin were not pleased by this news. "The winners will be decided by one on one combat, so if anyone isn't up to it now is the time to drop out." Sasuke grabbed his neck and started shaking. I wonder if we got the same mark, mine hurts badly however he is reacting to it worse. Sakura and Sasuke were whispering to eachother.

Sakura starts crying and wiping her tears away. What on earth could they be talking about? "It is just as I feared." I walked up beside Hiruzen who was in a group with Ibiki and Anko. "What should we do with them?" Ibiki asked. "We hand them over to black ops and have them locked up." Anko states. "What do you mean by them, do you mean me to? Us staying in a room isn't going to make the curse mark go away anyways." I butted in. "Exactly, Y/n and Sasuke wont just go along with this." Kakashi added himself into the conversation. "You are forgetting they are both of the Uchiha clan." "I don't care what they are!" Anko snapped. "If they stay here they are a danger to everyone! When they get stronger so does the curse mark!" That really ticked me off. Huh, I am a danger to everyone in the village. "If I am so much of a danger. Would you care to prove it? You have a curse mark to. So you can sit in an empty room with us if we are so much of a danger." I said. "Hm? Got nothing to say about that do you?" "Cut it out Y/n!" The third demanded. "It is amazing that you both are still standing. By now... you both should be dead." She seemed sadder. "Lord Hokage?!" Hiruzen took a second to think. 

Some kid raised his hand. "I am out." He said smiling. "B-but Kabuto?" Naruto said disappointed. Hayate flipped through the pages on his clip board and cleared his throat. "Kabuto Yakushi of the leaf village, correct? You can go on ahead and leave." Kabuto turned around and walked out the door. "As I recall, I think he dropped out of the main battle before. What kind of game is he playing?" Hiruzen asked himself. Anko flipped through her clipboard. "Kabuto Yakushi. Says here that he has failed six times in a row." That is suspicious. "Hey Anko what do you have on his background?" I asked. "His time at the academy is not what I would call impressive. Had average grades. He passed the graduation exam on the third try. As for missions after that, two C ranks and fourteen D ranks. Not something to be proud about......... However?" She stopped. "However.....?" The third wanted her to keep on talking. "There is something before he was in the academy." Me and Hiruzen were shocked. "Do you remember the child? That was found in the battle of the kikyo pass?.......The only survivor." "I remember the story, I heard an enemy boy survivor at the battlefield was taken back by a jonin from the medical unit. So he is that boy?" 

Hayate coughed. "Now then, does anyone else want to quit?" Sakura was trying to get Sasuke to quit. "We will let the boy participate. However if the curse mark begins growing or if his power is out of control Y/n will step in." Anko was not pleased with Hiuzen's decision. "BUT.. Ah..... as you wish." Her face fell. "Now then, we will begin the preliminaries. These battles will be one on one. There will be ten matches and the ten winners will advance to the final exam. As for the rules there aren't any. Fight till one dies of admits defeat. I might intervene if a match seems hopeless. Now to show what fate has desisted for you." Panels started opening. "The names of two people will be randomly selected and displayed on the screen up there. Let is begin and announce the two names for the first battle." The screen started going through random peoples names until it stopped. It read "Yoroi Akado vs. Sasuke Uchiha." Lets see if he can hold up.
