The Trench Coat

Chapter Six:

I had been wearing the trench coat everywhere. Well one reason was, it was warm and I had nothing better to wear. Two is it smelled like The Doctor's amazing smell. And third, I was hoping he'd come back to get it and I'd see him again.

A chilly breeze flew down the back of my, well, The Doctor's, trench coat and I stuffed my hands into the pockets. Much better. I tried to find the bottom. It seemed like it was never ending!

"Hmm," I chuckled to myself. "Pockets are bigger on the inside too."

As I try to find the bottom, my hand closes on something. I pull it out and it was a crumpled up piece of paper. At first glance I thought it was just an ordinary piece of paper, but then I noticed something. It said on part of it, "Melanie, help me-" I had to uncrumple and unfold it to read more. "-I have been sent to the past. I'll explain more later. Right now, I need your help. Around the back of the coffee shop near you, is the Tardis. I don't have much time. Watch your back Melanie. Keep alert. If you feel eyes on you, run and DON'T BLINK."

I flipped the small note over. Nothing.

"Th-that's it!?" I said shakily. "How am I supposed to know what to do!? Let alone trying to figure out how to work the Tardis!"

I read and reread it over and over trying to make sense of it.

Running to the coffee shop and jumping the gate that lead to the back, the Tardis sat lonely next to the dumpster. I tried the handles. Locked.

"How does he expect me to get in!?" I say frantically. I grab the note again and read it yet again. Towards the bottom more words appeared.

"Sorry, forgot you need a key. Dig around in my pockets."

"How did that appear out if nowhere?" Never mind. I'm saying this like a fictional character that has been popping in and out of my life is nothing but appearing words are a huge deal.

I shove my hands into the pocket i found the note in. After finding some very random things like a banana, I found something tiny, cold, and hard. The key to the Tardis.
